6.5 PRC 147 eld eld m vs 153 berger vs 156 eol

I’ve shot 1 elk with a 153.5, and one mule deer with the 156. I wouldn’t hesitate to use any of the three you mentioned.

Whatever works best for your rifle.

147 gr ELD-M produce tiny groups in my 6.5 PRC and hits 1800 fps @ 1100 yards

156 gr Berger’s produce almost as tiny groups in my 6.5 PRC and hits 1800 fps @ 1075 yards

No noticeable difference in felt recoil.

156 berger has worked great for me. Have harvested several large/med size game. Haven't lost an animal or had one travel over 40yds. I haven't tried either of the other bullets mentioned.

What powder were you using? What length barrel and muzzle velocity if you dont mind sharing, I dont need specific load details just exploring options

Been having good success with 147s on about 7 bulls, and a pile of bucks over the past 6 years
Was just kinda curious have you shot some at close and longer range.A friend was shooting them a d wondered about the performance at longer range. His gun shoots them really well.

I was sending them 3050 with my 26" barrel, the longest kill was beyond 800 yards, the 147 performed well but the bull still took a long time to die with a double lung hit. I feel the issue was lack of steam, I don't shoot elk that far anymore with anything less than a heavy 7mm.

The closest elk was 200 yards, great penetration and almost instant death.
I've recently put a 16" barrel on the 6.5 saum, and my wife has killed several bucks with it, impact velocities around 2500 fps
