6.5 Creedmoor/260 for Deer, Elk, and whatever else.....

Marginal at Sea level according to berger.
I shot 156s out of a Creedmoor for a couple years. No stability issues that I could see here at home at 1,000'. 22'' 8 twist, 2650 fps at the muzzle.

I'm trying to remember if I shot them further than 400 here at home, but I know at that range they did fine. Shot them a lot further out west, and never saw problems.

It's probably the most accurate bullet I've shot out of that rifle. I just didn't like being that close to pressure signs.

My experience with the 147eldm has been limited but positive at lower velocities. The photos with the single bullet was recovered in the offside hide of my bull this year. Entrance through the shoulder just under the spine, impact velocity 2050fps. Coke can size lung damage, and DRT.

Photo with 3 bullets- impact 1810fps mature bull. 2/3 broke ribs and entered behind front shoulder and took out heart and lungs. Bullet 3 hit no rib on entrance, liver/lung. All caught just under offside hide.

Perfect data point for the 147 ELDM at 1800 FPS on game. Thank you.

1 round of Factory Barnes 127 LRX leaving my 18” Tikka T3x 6.5 creedmoor stainless around 2800 fps killed this cow elk under 1 minute. Shot distance was 275 yards at 8100’. She did a wobbly 55 yard death run and tipped over. Lungs destroyed, heart intact, full pass through ribs on both sides so I did not recover the bullet. Pretty typical for a mono in my experience.

I guess this is a 'whatever else'. We have chickens and the turkey population around here has really suffered in the last decade (not due to predators per se, but still way down) so I really struggle to pass up shots on predators during deer season.

This guy stopped, facing me, at about 75 yards today, and took a 6.5cm 130 eld-m in the throat and out the back, just beside the spine. I haven't checked internal damage, but given my hold I expect that I got into his chest high and the bullet probably then chewed its way out of the chest through the edge of the spine and backstrap. About 12" of penetration before exit (I measured it).

We've been hunting with suppressors since 2022 but this is the first thing *I* have shot suppressed, since most of my deer are killed during muzzleloader season. I'd put together some reduced loads - 130 eldm over IMR4895 at 2700' from a 20" - and with the scope up at 10x in low light (in the woods near dark) I had zero problem maintaining sight picture at the shot. Watched him flop over sideways and he never twitched again.

I trapped another bobcat about 25 yards from him, back during last winter, and killed one in 2023 about 20 yards from him in the other direction. We have lots of bobcats. ccc0a00f-5c2d-4e51-97d1-82aba6691da3.jpg

Nice job. I killed this cat with my 6.5 CM on my lease in Lewisburg TN last season

Haha small world! I have a cousin that lives just off Trotwood in the subdivision beside Williams funeral home(I think its Williams) and a uncle who lives by the duck river on iron bridge rd(that's off tom j hitch) which might be more towards your direction?

Y’all are practically my neighbors. I’m in Maury Co but closer to Lewisburg than Columbia.

I lived in Franklin for 20 years and have been on that lease in Marshall County for 15 years. I live in Cookeville now. I met my close friend that I’ve been hunting with for 20 years on a hunting Internet forum.

You guys if you aren’t already need to join Strategic Edge gun range.

Been a member since either 17 or 18, I forget. Both my older kids are members too.
