6.5 Creedmoor/260 for Deer, Elk, and whatever else.....

need pics of that 1100 pound bull............
Here's the best pics I have. I had talked with multiple meat processors up there in Prince George before the hunt and they told me a mature bull elk up there is 1100-1200 lbs on the hoof. My bull was a very old 5x6 who was losing his teeth. I brought home the lower incisors to get him aged.

Didn't get any photos while quartering it up, but got a small-ish black bear with the 127 Barnes LRX at 200 yds from an 18" 6.5 CM. Hit the back of a shoulder blade on the entry, front of the lungs, pretty much dropped in place. Good performance, not much meat loss.

Spikefork bull moose
6.5 creedmoor
130 TMK
Impact velocity 2650 120 meter shot

Spotted him on the road. Shot him offhand. He dropped. Was dead when I walked up to him. Sorry no pictures of the wound as dealing with a moose is a real chore. The internal damage was massive. I am very pleased with the performance of this 130 grain bullet. But here’s a picture of a tikka in a rokstok and they rule. IMG_0640.jpeg

Bull elk
395 yards
6.5 creed 147 eldm factory muzzle vel 2520
Impact was about 2150fps
Hit him 3 times, first one was a hair back (bad wind call) but took out liver and stomach. Saw impact, adjusted and put second right behind the crease. He was dead on his feet, but decided to shoot a third time as he was still standing there. Third shot hit 3in in front of second taking out top of heart. Complete devastation on onside and blew far side leg bone into pieces. Only recovered 2/3 bullets. One stayed together and second came apart but found core next to jacket on far side hide.

6.5 CM, 147 ELDm, MV is 2675 fps, impact velocity was around 2420 fps. Mature buck for here, 180 lbs. Broadside, through both shoulders, complete pass through and DRT. This bullet seems to hold together well at Creedmoor velocities, while still upsetting enough.

I usually see more expansion than this one though, seems to have been a "tad" slow to expand, more akin to a bonded bullet. Oh well, the deer never flinched and no tracking was required.

That’s pretty solid performance imo with not a lot of bloodshot.

I tried to take my time with the pictures as I'm attempting to convince my dad that an elk cartridge doesn't need to start with .3XX to hunt an elk so we both were pleasantly surprised with the amount of destruction in the cavity. He even asked " So are you going to use this for your elk hunt?" when we were breaking down the buck.;) There was lung blood in the underside of the shoulders and the thoracic cavity was full of blood. There was no blood shot in the meat to speak of, only surface blood from the cavity spilling into the spaces under the shoulders.
At impact the buck did a dance and tumbled approx 25 yds downhill but never acted like it was going anywhere but down.
