So a cartridge that holds 1800 fps to past 600 yards with "most" hunting ammo in factory form falls apart at 300 yards? That is rich. My 22" Howa 1500 Carbon Stalker (got it on sale for sub $500) shoots the Federal 130 Terminal Ascent factory ammo @ 2816 fps and is sub MOA at 100 on 5 shots. It holds 1800 fps past 750 yards and is easy to dial. It also shoots 140's (all brands I've tried) at 2600 +/- 20 fps and keeps them at 1800 fps from 600 to 700 yards depending on the BC. I even ran some 156 EOL Berger ammo through it and those were also sub MOA @ 2528 fps on 5 rounds and hold 1800 fps past 750 yards.I was just gifted a 6.5cm by a friend and was very excited about trying a new caliber, then after a few drinks I asked him why such an extravagant gift! His answer kinda surprised me, “ I hate it “ “ it’s accurate as hell to 300yards then falls on its face , it is very under powered past that and it needs a dial up scope to utilize 140gr+ ammo “
He says it doesn’t hold a candle to his 270win , wife’s 270wsm or his 7-08 or 300wm
But said that I should stick with a 130gr or 120gr , and it would be good for deer and hogs.
I have poured over just about every single 6.5 post on the RS , and some of them make me feel nervous, about what to expect
Especially since I have ordered 4 different kinds of ammunition to find the Goldie locks of ammo ( not to explosive at sub 200 and not to tough at low velocity) yet still accurate to a CM PBR with a + 2inch zero.
I’m probably being too silly and over thinking this one, guess I’ll just have to wait and see if it becomes a safe queen or hits the road till it proves it’s merit vs my other options in the safe
