6.5 Creedmoor/260 for Deer, Elk, and whatever else.....

That rifle is awesome. I got a single shot rifle in 300 Blackout and now want a 18-20" single shot 6.5 CM or .308 as a beater/box blind rifle.
They’re phenomenal little guns, especially for the price. I’d seriously consider the .243 CVA Scout or the 6.5
This gun has killed a truck load of deer and I haven’t owned it for very long.

6.5CM Barnes factory LRX, 450 yard shot watched him drop in my scope, impact velocity should have been around 2000fps... it also appeared to tumble through as the base is sticking out the far side...

Opening morning in Louisiana and put down two doe before 0800. 6.5 creed and the eld-x is the easy button. Both shots today were between 50-100 yards, both double lunged and ran about 40 yards after the shot. Exits were silver dollar size, and easy to follow blood trails. I’ve got 10+ kills with this combo now from 40-330 yards. Makes it hard to want to try anything else.

Question for @Formidilosus and others.

The 130tmk appears to be "better" on game vs say the eldm/eldx especially with it functioning better at lower impact velocities.

But the BC is much less. At 800 yards, at my elevation from my rifle a 147eldm will be going 1860fps. A 130 tmk, while leaving the barrel faster will be going 1700fps at 800yds. Where is the crossover? Would it be better to run the eldm and keep it above 1800fps or run the tmk since it functions better at lower velocities? Basically, will a eldm outperform due to higher impact velocity.

Thanks

147 Eldm hand loads from my 16.5” 6.5 Creed. Steep quartering away at 42yds.

Bullet entered at the rear of her rib cage, traveled along the inside of the ribs shattering most of them, and stopped at the spine/neck juncture. Out like a light switch.

In that example, no. I would still choose the TMK. While ELD-M’s do well, and generally will upset at 1,800fps, often enough it is minimal upset and it is not unheard of for the 147gr specifically to have reduced upset.

The real question is how often are you legitimately killing animals at 800 yards?

582 is my farthest animal taken to date, lots between 350-475yds so never. 800 is about my limit on game. Conditions dependent. Worse conditions and the range gets less. I'd just like to have the tool in the toolbox if needed. (800yd shots). Guy in my group took an animal a couple years back at just over 700yds and this year there was an animal on the same hillside. So it's a possibility. I'm excited to see the tmk on game moving forward. Thanks

I do not believe you will be disappointed with the TMK.

Just an fyi, on the scout, the 243 has a 1/10 twist, the 6.5 cm has a 1/8 twist though. It also appears they dont make the 6.5cm in SS anymore? Least they are not showing on the website.
