6.5 creed vs 6.5 prc for anything from white tail to moose?

To the OP. Where in Texas? PM me and you can come shoot my surpressed 6.5CM’s. I have a few to chose from Tikka 16” Rokstock 8.5lbs
Or Alamo Precision 20” proof, Manners. 9.5lbs

You get 20 rounds for free after that it’s $1 per
You can shoot to 300 yards at my place all private.

I have shot ALOT of 6.5 PRC love the round ! Barrel life means nothing to me. I never drive down the highway and stress the life on my tires , So I refuse to reload and stress barrel life !

I dare say barrel life on a PRC is half of the 6.5 Creed , But i promise you if you can afford 1800-2000 rounds of 6.5 PRC ammo you can afford a new barrel.

(( All that said )) I would way sooner shoot my Creed in today’s world it’s probably one of the cheapest rifles to shoot and reload for and it’s simply just fun.

I have seen 8 or 9 elk shot with 143 gr ELDX out of a PRC.

And 6 shot with a 143 gr ELDX creed.

I seen zero real difference out to 600.
And only shot two elk at more extreme ranges with the PRC I love PRC. But can’t say it’s worth it over 6.5 CM

I kind of wonder why I have my PRC. It really has no advantage over my 6 or 6.5 creed at any range I can actually shoot. I guess its just my "maybe someday" gun.

I am still holding onto a few 308’s. I believe it is related to the same reason teenagers carry Magnum Trojans in their wallet. You never know when you might need it.

I decided to go from a 6.5 Creed to a 6.5 PRC. .... and a 223.

The 223 is the new main hunting rifle for 80% of everything. The PRC is solely to throw copper solids downrange at 3000fps (and those few places where you can't hunt with a centerfire 22).

It's all about use case, and I found the Creed to be bigger than I wanted for most things and not fast enough for others.

IMO its pretty simple and all depends on barrel length and shot distance.

If someone is planning on a 22-24" barrel, Creed is enough, will do the job, and theres no reason for the extra recoil of the PRC unless very long shots are planned.....which I have personal feelings on but thats for each to decide for themselves and the cartridge doesnt matter IMO.

If someone wants a <18" barrel, then Creed is likely too anemic, especially for long shots, so PRC makes more sense.

If hand-loading, then you can potentially bring the Creed up in velocity to enough even with the short barrel.

I've said this before on other similar threads. I went with PRC because it was on sell and helps the Fudds I hunt with relax.

And I agree with the comment above regarding barrel length and velocity expectations.
