6.5 CM 140 nosler accubonds. 4 deer no exit wound

I do prefer pass through a, but as long as the insides are soup the rest is just the fine print. Only shot one deer with my 6.5 CM, and it was a Muley buck with a 139 Scenar. Pass through and dead deer.

I definitely want a good blood trail. Even deer hit really well will on occasion run a fair distance. In the brushy areas we hunt in WI, a good blood trail can often make all of the difference. It's a huge consideration for me.

If all 4 were close? at close range the expansion diameter is larger and slows penetration, at longer range you most likely would get pass throughs. I have never used Accubonds as I use Partitions and heavy for caliber. I hear great things about the Accubonds though

Years ago I shot a big 4 pt Muley at 30 yards broadside right behind the shoulder with a 30-06 and 150 gr corloks. No exit and no blood, couldnt belive it. Tough track job in thick stuff. He went 80 yards but I never found blood until about 50 so I know what you mean

I have shot a mule deer and 3 whitetails. All shots were right behind the shoulder. The last buck I shot was only 75yds. THey all died within 50yds, my only problem is there is no blood trail at all. Small entrance wound and no exit. It took me awhile to find the last deer because he was in thick brush. Is the Creedmoor enough to go for the double shoulder shot? Should I switch bullets? THinkind about just going with a 7mm.

I shot 4 white tails this season with a 6.5CM 140gr Accubonds. 80yds, 126yds, 184yds, 209yds. Only the 80yd shot was a pass through. The deer was walking towards me, the shot entered just left of chest center and exited out the butt end. Everything inside was not identifiable. All 4 deer took zero steps after being hit and only gave a few tail twitches. I lent the rifle to a buddy whose scope crapped out and he shot two, 280yds 255yds. No pass through s but again the deer did not take a step. 20 guys in camp, 12 shooting 6.5CM with 4 shooting Accubonds. All had one shot DRT kills. Guys using Hornady Precision Hunter with the 143gr ELDx all had similar one shot, DRT kills. The guides expressed concerns about the round not leaving a blood trail, but he didn't have to track any deer for us. Just keep putting the Accubond in the right spot and you don't have to worry about a blood trail.

In my experience bonded bullets do not always exit, especially on close shots. I have seen this with Accubonds and Interbonds. The bullets just continue to mushroom and the larger frontal area is a barrier to exiting. Federal Fusions do not seem to open as much and normally exit but they have a different bonding process that may account for that. If you want an exit, use a Barnes TTSX, LRX or similarly constructed bullet or a heavy cup and core. In my 7mm-08, I got more exits with the 154gr Interlock than I did with a 139gr Interbond. There are no absolutes in predicting a bullets performance though. Sometimes doodoo happens.

If you require a pass through, Partitions and Swift A-frames have always provided exit holes for me.
