I got another AB raptor 8 in the normal configuration they ship typically (IE 3" bull barrel reflex). Since I already have one of those I was thinking of swapping out the reflex for a 5" sporter version to get the max volume in that chamber. Curious who has experience with the longer 5" bull or sporter and any comparison impressions versus shorter reflex and/or direct thread?

I don't have multiple so I can't compare, but I'm very happy with my 5" bull reflex on my Raptor 10. I was going for max suppression and still wanted flexibility to put on any barrel.

I speculate that there must be some point of diminishing returns with more reflex size. It would probably depend on the calibers you're shooting as well. I've found AB to be helpful when I've called. Put in a call and ask them for their opinion based on your setup.

I have one, but have never used it. I ran the 3” for a while then went to direct mount due to running them on pistols. Too lazy to put the reflex back on for rifle use. From looking at data a 3” reflex is equal to 2 baffles sound wise. So I would expect the 5” to be quieter again.

Have Raptor 8 with 5” reflex. I don’t have comparison to 3” reflex. It has markedly better suppression than direct mount on both 6.5 cm & 280 AI.
I would recommend without reservation.

Same. I have 8 and 5”. It does better than my other 4 suppressors. And because alot is over barrel it handles well.

Looks a bit funky but you get over that

I have the same set up. I really like having the full size reflex when I’m at the range. It is very very functional. I shoot flush when I’m out hunting, and it has been surprisingly quiet.

It looks freaking huge, and honestly, I’ve had other guys at the range think that I’m shooting a 13 inch barrel. So it does look a little different, but I actually think it’s really cool.

If I had to buy it again, I would get the exact same set up
