I was curious if you got a sighter in! 1 mph wind variation at that distance is over 12" difference! Great work Ryan that's a hunt for the books!

Thats awesome. Definitely requires practice and discipline to pull off a mile+ shot. And I'm sure 3 seconds after the trigger broke it was a relief to see him lying in his bed.

I get roughly 950-1000fpe.

Pretty big change between long bow and long range. Congrats on the moose.

Just checked and I was running the 300 grain Berger not SMK. After changing it up and running at 25" pressure and 45* temp I'm getting around 1145 ft lbs and 1300 fps. Probably should've run 35* temp so we're right on the same page. :)

Ryan I left u a voicemail. Call me when u can!

HAHA....thats more FT/LBS of energy than my buddy shot his 57" moose with his .243 win at 230 yards!

Impressive for sure! Well done Mr. Avery

Congrats! Awesome shot and you earned it. " LUCK: is when preparation and opportunity come together"

You hunted hard,
You sought good training,
You practiced to obtain the needed confidence and skill,
You had proper equipment and knew how to use it,
You executed a clean and ethical kill.

Screw the naysayers. I have seen more wrecks on many occasions done from arrows badly placed at <20 yards, and with rifles, azz shot game from spooking them by getting to close.

You did your work and you were successful in style. I am proud to know you and welcome the chance to share a hunting camp anytime.

Huge congrats. Enjoy those steaks!

Jeff

I your write up you thought that the bullet might have broke in two. Something about one going down and the other piece ending up in the off side shoulder. Did you find another hole when you first walked up? Where did you find the lead? Sounds like it still managed to take care of him fairly quickly.
