That makes more sense. Never shot a buck in the velvet or even been that close to one that near summer. So that would make sense on the coat. Thanks for clarifying. Where I live, it’s always late November when my deer seem to hit the ground so never see a summer coat.

I've seen a picture of this buck on another "muledeer" forum. I recall it was guided by Wade Lemon Hunting which I also think has had some legal issues. They killed another huge buck that was posted.
