Sometime back it was discussed that I wanted to build one, and some asked for me to report back. Used a cva scout 400 legend and had a breech plug installed. Went with direct ignition on this. I’ve used modules before and would have had to rounded up an extractor for this one. H4198 and 200 gr fury star tip 2p and a wool wad. First trip was to get the scope sighted, trijicon 3-12 Huron, and see how it would do. Averaged around 2830fps. I was pretty happy with these results.IMG_2102.pngIMG_2101.jpeg

I wasn’t hardly finished as I wanted to add a suppressor. Finally got approved Friday for a hybrid 46dtm and had a slight break in the rain today. Same load as above shot 2790 with the added suppressor. Moved the scope and didn’t shoot for groups but I will when the weather is better. I didn’t bring enough primers with me for this quick session. First shot was 2” high, so I adjusted 2” and shot 1” low for the next 2 shots. Last shot hit left of bullseye on bottom left target. Overall I’m pretty pleased. I like tinkering with these and may play with my load a little and see if it’ll improve, but for strictly killing deer to 200 yards it’s good to go.

Cool! A 200 gr Fury at 2800 fps - that’ll be a grenade! I’ve got a .40 Peregrine that shoots 225 Furys at 3100 fps with 170 grV B$209. Have not tried to shoot anything with it. Yet.

I’m excited to see how it does on a deer. 3100 with a 225 is getting it. I don’t remember the numbers but I think my load is under 50k psi. The barrel size limits me but for 200 yards, I’m more than happy.

I have a Hankins rifle and can tell you what the results will be.......The make them go bang flop but they destroy a lot of meat. I shot a doe one morning just under the chin. standing straight on looking at me. There was a small (1/4) inch piece of hide left holding her head on. Choose your shots wisely as they will make a mess.

I’ve killed several deer with a 45cal smokeless. The holes are always impressive
