358 Winchester custom rifle build

I have a custom .358 win with a CRF Thompson Leh receiver that Alamo Precision built. 20” 3b Muller Works barrel. Shoots awesome.

Couple thoughts. Suppressors are really growing on my because I believe shooting with no ear pro is a bad idea even just hunting. I'd rather have the length of a suppressor than the hassle of grabbing ear plugs.
I tried a .358 and it worked very well. I'm just not sure it was really "better" than a 308.

So for what you are spending here are my suggestions.
1. Cut the barrel to 16.25 inches and thread for a light suppressor. Or do an SBR or a pin and weld that gets you to a suppressor starting at about the 14.5 inch mark on the barrel.
2. You can do a 358 if you like but honestly unless you like tinkering with things I'd make it a 308.

Build a gun you love, put a solid scope on it and go kill stuff.

If you do go 358 I like Cutting Edge bullets, Partitions and Swift A Frames. Just an FYI some people seem to have issues resizing 308 brass. I had a few issues and bought a bunch of ready made 358 brass. It was easier.

Seems to me the easy button is a left handed ruger Hawkeye in 358. I have a right handed 1. Claw feed, 3 position saftey, not super heavy. 20" pipe i think. Shoots 200gr barnes very well

Most any barrel manufacturer will cut you a 358 in whatever contour you want. I just picked up a McGowen, but Lilja, Krieger, Shilen... all cut a good barrel.

If you're not wanting to involve a 'smith, and you're a do-it-yourself kind of guy, pick up a used Savage and call Northland Shooters Supply. They have all the tools, and carry or can get a Shilen pre-fit 358 Win in your contour. Then you can unscrew the old barrel and headspace the new one on. But do your research and make sure you have a good idea what to do before you do it.
