2026 Rokslide World Cup Thread

Just finished up the last game of my World Cup run. Spain vs Portugal. Have always rooted for Cristiano since his Man U days so even though they lost, I was able to witness his last World Cup game. 2nd time I saw him as I saw him at el clasico in 2018.

Now for the USA!!
Cristiano has had an amazing run!

The two sports are so vastly different it's just a silly comparison to make. Most Soccer players can't block a 300lb. lineman. Conversely, most NFL players can't run 7-11 miles over the course of a 90 minute match.
This is the correct take. Very very different sports.

Have a look at Aussie rules football, pretty damn good combination of the speed of soccer and the toughness of NFL.

I'll tune into games whenever I catch it on TV. Absolutely awesome sport! Those guys are some serious athletes.
For sure, lots of people outside Australia don't even know the sport exists 🤣🤣

Got a favourite team or just a fan of the sport in general?

Just a general fan of the game at the moment- I'm still trying to better understand rules and tactics. Yeah it's surprising so many folks just aren't aware of it. Honestly it's become a little difficult for me to watch the NFL since stumbling into Aussie rules football. With all the commercial breaks, timeouts and stoppages in play it's hard to get invested in NFL games these days. Do you have a favorite team?

Why should we care about the NFL? A bunch of wannabe thugs. Always in trouble with guns, girls, violence, etc. pathetic.

I’m not the smartest guy in the world, so help me understand your statement. Evidently you think I said we should care about the NFL, but I can’t find any post where I said that. Can you help me out?

Holy crap...I will admit I don't watch soccer and haven't watched a full game I don't believe ever. I have never seen so many grown men rolling around on the ground crying in my life. Maybe someone here that played men's soccer can enlighten me...is it literally taught to dive and cry? Is that the culture of it? Because I know in watching some women's soccer including my sister in laws college games...they seem a lot tougher and have more of an edge than men.

Also, is urgency not a thing? The U.S. were down 1 and then 2 and played ticky tac fairy toe instead of just putting some balls on the net and seeing what happens. Then trying to make fancy pants crossing passes inside the box....how tf do you plan to score with 2 shots on goal? Make the goalie make some saves even if they are at distance my lord.

The last half of that ARG v COL was one for the ages. What a battle. ARG down 2 nil late in the match- no problem!

The USA match was tough to watch and it had very little to do with the refs. On one play, the ball pops up high in the air 20' from our goal and 3 USA defenders just stand there and watch the ball hit the ground. It looked like a HS team out there. Shape was terrible, many times they had no one to pass to. Defense- Ha! They just got mowed over like there were no defenders.

Sadly, USA is still not there when it comes to World Class soccer and apparently no hot shot coach can change that.
