For hunting mule deer. Which one does everyone prefer more?
If you are shooting beyond 400, there is probably a theoretical argument for the creed, but if you are shooting beyond 400 yards, you probably know that. My creed is a little softer shooting, bu lower weight 308 monos are similar to higher weight creeds in terms of felt recoil to me. Can’t go wrong with either IMOUp to 400 —> 308
Over 400 —> 6.5

I’ve been shooting 6.5 (.260 Rem) since the late 90s. I can tell you one thing, it’s currently “cool” to not “like” 6.5 because of said “hype”. You’re the one buying into the hate hype by not shooting more effective chamberings than .308.308 for sure. 6.5 is just a bunch marketing hype.
Wrong, I’ve shot a .260 since 1997. The 6.5 doesn’t do anything that hasn’t already been done.I’ve been shooting 6.5 since the late 90s. It does feed long bullets out of standard magazines quite a bit better. I've had both. Both are excellent.Wrong, I’ve shot a .260 since 1997. The 6.5 doesn’t do anything that hasn’t already been done.
Readily available factory 1-8" barrels and factory match ammoWrong, I’ve shot a .260 since 1997. The 6.5 doesn’t do anything that hasn’t already been done.
And what does that get you, an elk that is more dead?Readily available factory 1-8" barrels and factory match ammo
Just an elk that is the same amount dead. And what does that get you, an elk that is more dead?
Your .260 is a 6.5. So is 6.5 x 55. So is 6.5 cm, 6.5 PRC etc. They all shoot .264.Wrong, I’ve shot a .260 since 1997. The 6.5 doesn’t do anything that hasn’t already been done.
Lower barrier to entry. Ability to shooter higher bc bullets that will have less wind drift. If that leads to more and better practice, all things equal, it certainly could be the difference between a dead elk and not. Enough of a reason to buy a creedmoor if you already have a 260? Maybe not. But it is something that was not already done. And what does that get you, an elk that is more dead?
