I finally got the chance to Swing at a longer Range with these Lehigh “Tipped” .458X260 Bullets, These things Shoot REALLY Well! My Rifle was my Hawken/Rice 1:20 Twist Barrel, Powder charge was 80 Grains by weight of Swiss 2F, This Target is Close to 350 Yards (like 330), I will Range it again soon as i get back out there. I had planned to shoot on the opposite Ridge But it was Breezy over there At Daylight this morning, So i drove around this Side and it was Calm, Really nice actually! I have been out 3 Different Times in the last week to do this, the Darn Weather Just wouldn’t cooperate! Fogged in, or Windy. This morning looked good, so it was ON!

I recovered 1 of the 2 Gong Hit Bullets, the Bullet was “Bull Dogged” From Hitting Square on Steel.

Cool video. Looks like you live up in gods country as well. Have you tried that bullet in gel at all (maybe some videos floating around on-line). Interested to see what its expansion looks like at 2 and 300 yards at those speeds. Impressive group without any tweaking for sure.
Keep up the good work.

No, These Particular tipped bullets are definitely for Target application ONLY.

Lehigh makes this bullet in a CF (controlled Fracturing) That is a Hunting Bullet, it is a Hollow Point Design, upon entering Game the Pedals Break away (Fracture) And the Rest of the Bullet pushes on. The Pedals weigh a very Small amount (5 Grains or there abouts I believe?) Once the Pedals Break away they are to light to Travel any real distance (they are easily stopped)

Here is a Video of a nice Buck Shot with a Lehigh CF Bullet, The Rug was YANKED in a Hurry!! (y) She shoots him at 1:00 in the Video

The bullet that ILewis is shooting for these long range target/gong shooting starts life as Sabotless .458x260CF-HP.

From that a Lehigh tip meant for another Lehigh bullet is inserted/pressed into the nose of the hollow point. This tip will add greatly to the BC of the bullet. With the tip inserted and CF function (Controlled Fracturing) of the bullet is severely hampered and it does not function well in gel or an animal.

When I first started shooting the new 260 I was totally impressed in the accuracy of the bullet to 200 hundred yards. With that thought in mind I wondered if the tip were added would it make a good Target/Gong bullet. Would perform well enough that I might be used in competitions. Lewis's shooting has shown me that there may be a place for this bullet with competitive target/gong shooters. Time will tell... or at least until I run out of tips.

Regular hunting .458x260 on the left and the tipped 260 possible target version on the right.
