Thanks! What copper bullet do you prefer?
199gr Hammer Hunter our of my .300 win mag. Drives them at a bit over 3100fps.

I also use the 64gr hammer hunter in my 5.56 for everything up to deer and am playing with the 140gr absolute hammer in my 7-08ai.

For Copper Bullets, if you're handloading, Cutting Edge or Hammer would be my choice.

I'm with everyone else - 9 Twist or faster would be my choice. There is someone here on the site who could not for the life of him get the 215 Berger to shoot in an off-the-shelf rifle, which was at least a 10 twist, maybe even faster.

That’s moving, are you using h1000? I’m shooting the 196 hammer hunter out of my 300 winmag with 10 twist right at 3000fps. Worked great fairly close on a moose and the petals fragmented as advertised. Interested to see if they fully expand down to 1800fps, if so the bullets are real winners.

I’m shooting berger 215’s at 2850fps using 76.5gr of H1000(300wm). I’m at 1200 feet above sea level (north of Atlanta ga). 10 twist 24 inch barrel. Lapua brass, 3.585 OAL.

Yup H1000. Fed GMM 215m primers in ADG brass.

I haven’t made any real long shots yet. Only out to about 400 yards. They seem to work as advertised from 50-400 so far. Have shot about 15 animals with them from 40lb javelina, Aoudad, elk, deer, antelope, feral goats, Oryx and they worked the same on all of them. They make a .30 cal hole going in and a 1 1/2” hole going out and on deer size and smaller the petals always exit too.

Wanted to ask one more question. For a factory rifle and planning to reload in the future but not now now would you lean 300 win mag or PRC? I shoot 7mag but am wanting a rifle to shoot 180-200 grain. Also thinking 1 in 10 is fine but will look for 1 in 9. I don’t see myself going for 230’s and up. I can also be patient finding ammo as my 7mag is working well. Thanks again everyone this has been very helpful.

Google the PRC "clicker" issue. That issue hurts the attractiveness of factory chamberings for me because you can't spec a slightly larger dimensioned chamber to combat it. To summarize - SAAMI specs leave relatively small clearance between case web and chamber. After firing brass a couple times, this can result in sticky extraction.

If you go 30 Sherman Magnum it's basically a 300 PRC AI, and will shoot factory PRC ammo, but the reamer is oversized a touch at the web and the creator claims it doesn't click (which is basically the fix put out by the AW2 reamer.)

I'm still building mine.

They are cool but it seems like it's basically 30 Nosler case capacity that requires fire forming which is not appealing to me at all.

Go 300 PRC and run a 1:8 or 1:9 twist barrel with preference to the 1:9 if youre going custom build. Most OEM either offer 1:10 or 1:8 twist barrels, 1:9 is kind of an odd ball.

I was originally was going to build an 8 twist 300 Win Mag with an improved shoulder/case and seat bullets to make COAL at 3.600”.

But I’m reconsidering going to a 30 Nosler throated long instead to avoid fire forming. Either way I already have the 8 twist barrel blank so I can shoot the 200+ grain Hammer, Badlands or Cutting Edge bullets.

Just go with a Wyatt's extended in that 30 Nos so you have plenty of room for those long mono's.
