Winter doldrums have me thinking of a build…don’t need anything, it life’s too short not to play with some new rifles.

I am wanting to hear thoughts on the 300 PRC. This would be a rifle I would want to use for late season, longer range desert elk hunts. Thinking 22” finished carbon barrel topped with a 6-7” suppressor.

220 grain scenars could pack a thump way out there…

It's a good cartridge with plenty of support. My custom with 24" barrel was shooting 230gr Berger OTM bullets at 2,990fps using N570. I sent that one down the road so someone else is enjoying it now.

Im running a 22 inch 300 PRC. Its a christensen that's extremely picky on ammo. The only thing I've found that shoots is 245 bergers over n570. I shot a buck with it this fall. Took 2 shots (bad shot placement on the first shot, back hips...) second one right where I wanted it. Neither one penetrated more than a foot and destroyed lots of meat. Huge energy dump though

I’m a fan of mine. Haven’t worked up my 215 hybrids but they’re on the bench waiting. 24” though. Waiting on my magnus & ultra 7 to show up. Have been using 46M.

I took this bull at 425 yards. 245 grain Elite Hunter. Stiff legged it and did a face plant. So far mine shoots the heavier bullets better and the accuracy is outstanding. I don’t know if anyone would need one if they already owned a win mag for hunting. I’m not sure I see that much of a benefit. Better hunting bullet selection for the win mag hands down. Not sure I’ll keep this set up long term as I am a big fan of my 340 weatherby and 35 Whelen for elk but this cartridge is a solid performer for sure!!

The instant that I sold my 300 PRC to a buddy I started looking for the next one. 225 ELD-M's certainly pack a wallop even waaayyyy out there.
On the next build I will most likely do a 20 or 22" barrel paired with a reflex can of some type and a folding chassis/stock. My only complaint on my old Springfield Waypoint carbon was the length of barrel once I put my Banish Backcountry can on it. Like walking around with a fence post. Also want to try out some of the super heavy Berger or Sierra offerings.
