People get to concerned with numbers in most cases all the mentioned cartridges will work fine. How does the 270 compare to the 7mm-08? 150 gr bullets for the -08, .574 bc. mv 2790.
What bullet do you like for elk? I love my 130 ballistic tips on deer. The 270 has been money for me for mule deer, white tail, bear, elk, antelope, and wolf.
What bullet would you use in the 7-08? I’ve never used anything heavier than 150’s. The 162’s were too long for the magazine in my rifle.I out to 400, it doesn’t matter. Out to 600, whatever you shoot best with heavy, high-BC bullets.
For me, it would be 6.5 Creedmoor or 7-08.
Factory options in 140 ELD-M, 143 ELD-X, 147 ELD-M, and 156 EOL.For a factory ammo shooter, wanting to kill animals at 600 yards, 6.5 creed is the easiest option by far. Cut the barrel to 18", and it still had enough velocity to kill at 600 with factory ammo.
The chamber and ammo specs virtually eliminate the chance of getting one that's a lousy shooter. Recoil is mild, and it has great factory ammo availability.
I use ballistic tips on deer and accubonds on elk both in 130 grn. Had great performance with both. What bullet do you like for elk? I love my 130 ballistic tips on deer.
A 145 ELDX in 270 will VASTLY out perform any of the ammo listed above out to 600 yards. Seriously, it's not even close
Don't fall for the 6.5 hype.
with noticeably less recoil.Actually by 600 yards the 6.5 creed with 147 has less drift and more energy.

We don't care about energy, remember?Actually by 600 yards the 6.5 creed with 147 has less drift and more energy.

We don't need to walk the whole fence to get to the barnin this case, with the bullet weights essentially identical, more energy really just means the 147 has a higher impact velocity, which actually does matter.
