Nice, looking at the pictures on lri i was leaning towards pattern A. Any chance you have some pictures you feel like posting? High helix pattern A is what im probably going to go with.

I wouldn't worry too much about being forgotten by them. They are very good about communicating at every stage and even sending pictures. So if they've gone radio silent for a little while, it's just because it's in the queue and hasn't made it to the next step yet.

I found that things tend to sit in received status and then all of a sudden it moves along the other statuses quickly.

If three weeks in gets you nervous I’d be really really careful about other smiths if you ever need any other work done.

If it’s getting coated that’s probably the hangup. Takes a bit
No kidding 3 weeks, laughing. 3 months turning into 1.5 years seems to be the industry norm for a build, and that's when you hand them the parts.

It’s black, and in real life there’s no mistaking it. LRI only did bolt work, and it’s very smooth in my action. A friend had LRI cerakote bolt and receiver and he’s been generally unhappy with the gummy feel. Not that anyone asked, just an FYI.

In terms of turnaround, that bolt was done a few years back, but it was 5 weeks(ish), which included fluting, bolt knob installation, m16 extractor, and cerakote. I recall that extractor and cerakote took the longest.

As far as other gunsmith work is concerned, I’ve yet to have the crazy extended times that some have experienced. Longest wait was 4 or 6 months from a local guy. Other “well known” smiths have turned around work in a couple months. With how prolific prefits are currently, you can literally have a build put together in a couple days from purchase to complete in-hand (and I’ve done that this year)
So you had your bolt cerekoted as well? I am getting mine cerekoted and definitely don’t want gummy feeling. Also did you have any clearance issues between your scope and tac knob?
