22LR Bolt Gun - Action Recommendations

I just bought a Tikka T1x (Roughtech, 16") today! I have had over a hundred Scouts and Royal's in my cart for the past few months. I love the Royal, but that 1/2-20 thread kills it for me!

I feel a lot of relief ordering the Tikka. It has everything I want and I really like the mags too. I can mount my scope with Talley 1-piece rings (my favorite) instead of dealing with 11mm dovetail rings or a funky rail. It was actually shopping for the rings for a CZ that put me over the edge today to get the Tikka...

I got my first 22 can this week and only have semi-autos to shoot it on. Can't wait to get a bolt gun to really let these subs shine!
Subs out of a bolt action 22 are awesome. I’m not sure if the tikka has a tighter chamber or what but I only shot mine suppressed and it would get so dirty that it would hardly run after only a hundred rounds or so.

My other 22s don’t get that dirty until I’m 500-600 rounds in.

I’ve had that happen a few times with my 457. Once carrying it across my back, muzzle-up, and walking about a mile, it shook so much gunk out of the suppressor that I couldn’t chamber a round when I finally saw a squirrel. And I don’t think it had more than 200 rounds since the last cleaning. I’ll probably carry it muzzle down in the future.

I also had it happen at the range when I put it on the rifle rack behind the firing line (muzzle up).

I need to go over and pick up my T1X from the FFL.

Anyone know if I flow through can (ie Huxworks flow 22 ti) might mitigate this issue?

I recently picked up a t1x as a trainer for my boy. Decided I was going to play with it and wound up putting a drastically overpowered scope on it and dropped it into an Oryx chassis and a new triggertech setup. Waiting on the suppressor to show up now. Wildly overbuilt for a squirrel gun but boy is it fun to shoot. My kid might learn to shoot on it at some point too.

I doubt it, the only way to mitigate it would be shooting some of the cleaner .22 ammo.
What is "cleaner .22 ammo?" All the rimfire ammunition I have ever fired has been pretty filthy. Some of the high velocity, copper-jacketed cartridges don't seem too bad (e.g. the 17 HMR), but at the cost for those, I'd rather shoot 5.56.

This is what I’ve seen, however I can’t comment on how well they work as I’m still shooting golden Remingtons through a pair of .22s from 1933 and 1947 that I’m not sure have ever been cleaned.

Anybody have a B-14R with the carbon barrel? I have a spare manners stock and an MDT bottom metal that I can use to build a lightweight trainer and was debating going with that option. RimX and Voodoo are out as I don’t have quite that much money to drop on a .22 if I want to have money for the suppressor.
My friend has one and I have the steel barrel option. His shoots great and mine does as well. We both play around with subs but shoot just about anything for a 2” group at 100. Mine really likes cheap American eagle. I think I have 1,800-2,300 rounds through mine and he has over 3,000. They are great I love little bolt 22s and Bergara seems best bargain. My uncle has 2 17s and a 22 just like mine. Those all have over 3000 rounds and never an issue for him and he doesn’t clean at all while they ride around in an old farm pickup

Update on the t1x mag feeding issues:
The NDR mags completely solved my problem. Gun runs flawlessly now

Question for those using a T1X, I changed my factory stock to an oryx chassis. I recently noticed that the safety switch doesn’t move, has anyone noticed this and if so what is the solution? I haven’t really played with it much yet honestly.

I currently wouldnt touch a vudoo as there seems to be an issue with the new owners not filling orders.
Having said that, I absolutely loved mine that I bought 3 or so years ago.

The best value for money is the bergara hands down. The money you save between that and a rim x/vudoo can go towards a ton of lot tested ammo.

Anyone have any experience with the Springfield 2020 rimfires? They come in at a very attractive price point under the bergaras or tikkas

My buddy has one. He loves it but hasn't shot it a ton. We went out and I threw my 22 suppressor on it. Super fun and quiet with CCI Standard. It's pretty smooth and accurate. Every now and then Sportsmans runs an awesome sale for the rifle and generic scope for like ~$400. I skipped it twice last year but if it comes back around, I may grab one. I'm not trying to shoot competitions so I don't need to splurge for the best of the best.

I agree 100%

For the vast majority of shooters, a B14r with ammo it likes will do everything they want.

I initially planned on swapping the trigger out, but am still shooting it stock after 2 years.

Exactly, and .17 HM2 can be had for 15 cents a round. Sadly, bolt guns chambered for it have become somewhat collectible. Savage Mk II is still an option, and (when they are in stock) generally affordable.
