.223 or .22-250 or 22 creed

From my 2024 spreadsheet and rounding to the nearest 100.

.17 Mach 2: 6,000
.17 HMR: 4,000
.204 Ruger: 1,200
.223/5.56: 30,000
.22 Creedmoor: 2,000 (didn't start until August then hunted with it September-December)
.22-250: 2,000
.243: 12,000
.6 Creedmoor: 6,500
.6.5 Creedmoor: 4,000
.260 Remington: 5,500
.6.5 PRC: 3,500
.7SAUM: 1,200
.7mm Rem Mag: 800
.308/7.62: 15,000
.300 Win Mag: 200
.338 Lapua: 200

For the 22 Creed specifically, I am working on my 3rd Tikka setup and I have 3 extra barrels for when the first one goes. My factory Tikka 8 twist stainless barrel "should go" any day now as it's just past 1,500 rounds as of this morning; we'll see... This allows me to always have a 22 Creed up and running when one is down for a new barrel or an optic breaking or whatever else.

I'm not seeing anywhere in the future where a 22 Creedmoor isn't "always" in the truck or jeep along with the .223 and .308 and really, I don't "need" any of my 6mms anymore because of that cartridge.
Incredible. I’ve been slacking.

I just bought a Tikka 22-250 1-8” twist and I’m loving it. I’m shooting 77 TMKs at 3100 comfortably with itty bitty groups. Zero recoil and dead quit with my TBAC Ultra 7. I’m looking forward to try some Berger 85.5 and 88 ELDM loads and see how those do. Folks complain about brass stretch in this cartridge. That may be an issue if you can’t find brass. I’ve found lots of brass at many retailers right now…so not a concern for me.

Where are you sourcing brass?

If you spent 5 seconds on each trigger pull, that's 135 hours of just pulling the trigger last year. Not racking, reloading, getting into position. Just addressing the trigger and following through. That's bananas.

I'll throw you a wrinkle, how about a 223AI throated and twisted for heavies.

It's been on my short list for a while now for long range training / hunting.

It's fun to dream about, right?

Judging by the high number of 223 and 308, there may be a couple of full autos in there, and/or some rapid fire sport shooting.

It's all relative for sure. Those numbers seem "high" but would be quite low to me personally say, 5-10 years ago when I was still managing my 200 acre property and other multiple thousand acre properties for varmint and predator depredation, plus co-owning a shooting school, and competing, with having the majority of the ammo sponsored.

Compared to 2021-2023, 2024 numbers would be high as we moved and got ourselves established full time in Arizona.

And thanks to this thread I've got an early jump on my taxes from 3 LLC's last year haha. Spent all morning reconciling instead of shooting :(

I guess that’s a good perspective. That’s an impressive resume. I’ll have to look you up for some lessons if I’m ever in your neighborhood. That’s more than a lifetime of shooting for most guys in a few months.

Over 21 rounds per hour for 12 hours EVERY day of the year… seams a little more than “high”. Or 246 rounds every day of the year while working and hunting. If your number are true numbers that’s impressive…🤣

You only average 20 rounds per hour on your field days? I don’t think I’ve ever shot with somebody with that low of volume.

One 30 round mag out of an AR takes seconds.

I damn sure don’t shoot that much center fire! Even when I used to shoot Sportsman’s Team Challenge shooting steel targets gets pretty boring fast. Never saw much reason to rattle off 30rd mags as fast as I could just to make noise.

Finally got it all put together.

Tikka T3x .223
Cut to 20” and threaded
Tikka Varmint Stock (cheap, worthy upgrade)
Trijicon Credo HX 4-16x50
UM Tikka Rings
Banish Backcountry Suppressor
Upgraded Mountain Tactical bolt handle
Pure Precision Bottom Metal

Still need to put an arca rail on the bottom.

9lbs 2oz all in
