.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

The reason I got rid of my 22 creed and ultimately am planning on not shooting 223 is that I can’t use it everywhere I hunt. With only a few scopes and a few actions I just can’t justify having a rifle for a specialized purpose.

Plus 6mm bullets just seem to shoot better.

I do think a 6arc/dasher/br/gt could be a rifle for everything for most guys

Yep, I’m working on a hunting weight Dasher, and I suspect it will become my do it all.

I won’t clutter up the 223 thread with it, I’ll post a thread, probably a good idea considering we have a few of us on here using it.

Intrinsic accuracy is a thing, more need to know!
Weren't you talking of experimenting with a 223AI? Anything to share?

An obvious troll by a notorious troll but here we are.

Perhaps the dumbest part is when his “expert” is baffled by the fact that an ELDM behaves differently than a varmint bullet.
Someone may have left a subtle challenge for them to do a podcast with shoot2hunt in there comments.
Curious if they would given their *lack of* evidence

New to the forum. Stumbled on this thread just researching 223 rounds. Not a hunter, only been hunting once and did not get a chance to kill a deer and it was still one of the best times of my life. Needless to say I started reading the thread and was instantly hooked. Close to the 300 page mark. Anyway I wanted to contribute some data for those looking for a very low cost round that punches way above its weight. Might be good for practice and some game (again I am not a hunter so I would not know what this round does first hand). I picked it up at 45 cents per round and I think it is currently 48. Seems to be the same as the USA RED or the old purple LE training rounds. Thank you to the OP and subsequently all of the contributors. Outstanding thread that is a wealth of knowledge.

7 out of 10 on a 4” gong at 427 LRF yards. The misses were just of the gong. I’m pretty happy with this combo.

Is it bad that I don't know the notorious troll? Let alone the other ding dong delivering what can only be described as golden drops of wisdom....

It is just more proof showing how people equate one thing for another. Thinking that a 80 ELDM is the same as a 77 TMK proves that people don't understand bullet construction, neck length for expansion, or how velocity affects expansion. A prairie dog hit in the chest with an 80 ELDM 2300 fps (500 yards) isn't going to have the same expansion as one hit in the guts (full of grass and water) at 2650 fps (300 yards). Velocity, bullet construction, and shot placement matter on all animals. The 6mm Creedmoor sucks for prairie dogs too when shot with a 95 LRX...
