.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Nice all around! Question at that distance did you adjust or shoot bdc tree on the prism?
I’m using the Mil reticle, so used that to holdover. No dialing available for that optic unfortunately.

Worth mentioning that was a 416 yard shot...from a 4.5 pound rifle. Who says light rifles can't shoot...
Thanks, I totally forgot to include that.

You reprobates cost me a bushel of cash.

I kept reading this thread and finally caved.

It was cold, windy and snowy, but I had to send some downrange. Several factory loads were sub moa with 5 shot groups despite the shivering.

You won’t catch me hunting deer with it, but it sure does shoot well and is tons of fun.

Another 77TMK sample. Large bodied Kansas whitetail. Freedom Munitions loaded 77TMK (unknown velocity). ~235yd shot.

Same results as some others, minimal blood trail but only ran ~60yds. Truly, I was lucky to find it. Had nothing to work with for blood and after the shot it ran out of sight so no prior knowledge of where it piled up. It died within the branches of a laid over tree so it wasn’t easy to find, especially not knowing how far and exactly where it ran. It was on the verge of being a dog tracking job. Though it would’ve been an easy find for a dog.

I 'share' a Garmin chronograph with a friend and he gave me some data on recent lots of Black Hills 77 gr TMK today. At an ambient temperature of 45 degrees F, we got an average reading of 2679 FPS over 4 rounds out of a 16" AR. (As an aside, that AR's barrel sports similar velocities to 2 other 16" ARs we've tested, all from different manufacturers.)

Previously we've clocked BH 77 gr TMK at about 2690-2700 FPS at temps of 80-90 degrees. I don't know what kind of proprietary ball powder Black Hills is using, but it sure does seem to work well.

How do you like that OCL Polonium? I am thinking about getting one or the Polonium K this next year. I am currently shooting a Silencerco Omega 300 DTM but I am looking to add another for my wife and kids to shoot with.

I have a regular Polonium. The consensus is that it "sounds" better than the K to everyone I compete with.

I love that it works, and works well, on my 6 creed as well as 5.56.

I'll second the polonium. Great can. It's not the lightest option so I didn't put in on my lightest rifle. Like goalie said it gives some flexibility being able to use on 6mm stuff too. I don't think you would regret one at all.

Finally got a 223 data point for myself.
Been using a Tikka 223 with fixed 4x scope this season. Both me and my 11 year old have been bringing it. Of course on a day he couldn’t come, I got one by myself.

73 grain ELD-M at about 60 yards on a young whitetail buck.
Shot above the heart, through both lungs, pretty much exactly broadside. Bullet diameter entry wound, and about a half dollar size exit wound.

Great blood trail that really wasn’t needed, as he hit the ground within 10 yards of where he was shot.

Didn’t get good pics due to it starting to rain as I recovered him.

Very happy with that and I will continue to use this combo for the foreseeable future.

Love my polonium. For 223 and mid sized 6mm cartridges, it’s awesome. Never tried it on my 6 creed yet

I have a polonium K on my 14.5" AR, work pretty decent. I got the K model for less back pressure and added length on a gasser as it lives by my bed. Definitely not as quite as a .30 cal ultra 7 on 223 bolt gun but i use it there occasionally too. Nothing out of the ordinary but a solid can option for the price.
