.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Has anyone compared a 64 gr gold dot?

These things are humming out of my new 20" 556. Roughly 3050 fps.

Aac tmks were at 2750 fps.

Ive got some BH 77 tmks on the way to try. Seems undoubtedly the way to go for hunting. I shot a doe with them last year and made lung soup.

It probably doesn't matter. But somewhat debating what to run in my defense guns. Imi 77 smks shoot well. I think I'll keep the 64 gr in the truck in case glass gets in the mix. Might put those 77 tmks in the house gun.
Gold dots are great. I’ve shot them in the fbi barrier test and was happy with their performance compared to other projectiles tested. I carried them almost exclusively for a while now.

Ive never been able to get them to shoot really well - using various powders, but they penetrate like crazy with a narrowish wound channel on deer.
Being an out of town person those other uses you touch on for them are mind boggling for me

Ballistic shows hornady 75 is superior over 77smk. My stock pile currently is 75s but plan to buy a few hundred 73eldm every month.
Wound channels on the GDs will be narrower but most likely a pass through.
Glass is highly unlikely, but I keep 120rds loaded with TAP barrier as a stand by but not primary.
I don’t plan to buy any AAC tmk. I’ll stick with eldm availability unless I can acquire a few thousand true 77 tmk

I’m not sure. When someone says Rok Slide Special, I assumed they just mean a Tikka T3 223 1:8 twist. I know a lot of folks favor a SWFA 6X or even a 10X or 3-9X42mm.
I have a broader definition. Tikka T3, typically in a smaller chambering, with a drop test approved scope, in "Rokslide approved" rings, a shorter barrel, threaded and suppressed.

Are you folks shooting 75 ELDMs able to run them in an 8 twist barrel?
I cannot get them to work in factory Tikka mags; I can in my chassis gun using AICS mags. My rifle likes them at 2.44coal. I can shoot the 73gr ELDMs, 75BTHPs, and 77TMKs in the factory Tikka and Mamba mags. If you were to get a Waters Rifleman mag, then you could get the 75ELDMs to work in the factory bottom metal.

Been using 3d printed mags for 75 ELDs
