That sucks it's just a hair over useless. If you're doing 73s that fits in an AR mag. I'm looking to do 88 eldms. Mainly for wind and prairie dog towns. Trying to do 400-600 yards on dogs... Tikka logic. If they made all their mags the full length, increased twist and dropped the stupid bolt stop they'd probably save money and sell more rifles. Come on Tikka. It's 2025 we have science now...

Agreed.

You can kill alot of things with a .223 but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. I'd keep the .44 rifle, it would work a whole lot better.
What does a whole lot better mean or look like? What range is a 44 rifle effective out to? And what bullet design (xtp, jhp, solids) are you referring to?

Well .. that's kind of dumb. I wonder how Tikka can nail such a great, reliable rifle in nearly all aspects, and totally flop on the 223 mags. It's not like there's not enough room in the action.

Has anyone just tried slotting the front of the mag so that you can use slightly longer col rounds? I would think it would work since the body is joined by the bottom/cap and the rear spacer, so long as the rounds don't jump forward under recoil and eventually get jammed on the ogive.

This is where I first saw them.

I think he has an updated email closer to the end of the thread.

Is that factory mags that they sell. I also believe it is Ascension Armory. Can you provide a link to their store page? I tried finding them on Google. No results they do not exist in my version of the Internet. They also have posta in forums no link to a website.

There are definitely some shortcomings in the OEM market that continue to drive custom built rifles. I have heard that Howa will soon offer 22 ARC rifles with hinged floor plates like Jefferson Outdoors offers aftermarket. That would check a lot of boxes.

Why not just set it up with AI mags from the start. Rifle makers always have to complicate things.

Great question. Ruger offers a AI bottom for their American model. I’m assuming that if you buy it and then order AI mags to fit and feed 223 or 22 ARC, you’d be in business.
