Good point.
88 grains is a lot to ask out of a 20” .223.

Yes, one thing that makes me sad about my .22-250 is that it was built by an older gentleman before the heavier bullets became popular. So, it has a 1:12 twist. It’s built on a Mauser action though, so if I ever wanted to put on a faster twist barrel, I’d have lots of room for longer COAL.

I find this really interesting. I have a 16" and a 11.3" both 1:7 and they both shoot the same ammo into less than an inch. I didn't really do much "development" just picked 8208 and worked up until I started seeing flatter primers and lite swipe marks then backed off. This was for the 16, then tried them in the 11.3.One was a 16.1" DDM4 CHF gov with NXS 1-4
One was a Hodge Defense MOD 2 14.5" pinned CHF FN barrel with NX8
One was a KAC 11.5" CHF KAC barrel with NX8
All were 1/7 twist CHF Chrome lined.
Just because one is fatter than the other doesn’t necessarily mean anything. The wound channels produced by a 223 with TMKs or ELDMs are significantly larger than those produced by any 44 mag rifle and bullet combo. I would take the 223 over the 44 any day for anything in North America. You can kill alot of things with a .223 but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. I'd keep the .44 rifle, it would work a whole lot better.

My bad. Facts and logic tend to piss my wife off too. Just can’t help myself. I guess I need counseling and sensitivity training.Looky here, chicken man, quit inserting facts and logic into an emotional argument. You’re messing things up.

Is it possible your wife has an “online persona*” (read “Pharmseller”) that you are unaware of?My bad. Facts and logic tend to piss my wife off too. Just can’t help myself. I guess I need counseling and sensitivity training.
Whether you mean persona or personal, neither particularly sounds all that good to me.Is it possible your wife has an “online personal” (read “Pharmseller”) that you are unaware of?

EDIT: *
I’m totally giving gang signs and wearing my pants down low with my underwear up right now.Don’t worry about me, but I hear the chicken man is a bad mofo, and he holds a grudge like the cartels.

No worries, Ese. You haven’t insulted me or my ol’ lady.
Why not just set it up with AI mags from the start. Rifle makers always have to complicate things.
Then try the other AI mags Ascension IndustriesSome of us don't like those rattlely-ass magazines.
My Tikka shoots the AAC 77TMK load very well. Though the ammo in hand isn't all that impressive....some are a little wonky even to the naked eye. I haven't tried the AAC 75gr offering, but my rifle has done well with other 75gr bthp, 73 eldm, 73 otm, and some others in that realm. I'd gamble on the rifle liking it, personally.Question on PSA ammo. I'm going to have a Tikka factory SS lite 223 barrel cut and threaded at 16". For ammo, I'm looking at aac 556 75bthp and the aac 556 77tmk.
Do you think I should go ahead and buy a boatload, or should I buy 20 of each and then decide? I know availability has been spotty the last couple years, and I likely won't have my barrel done for a few weeks.
