No. It was functionally culling. A simultaneous fire was done by three others on three different elk with me as the spotter. Their elk all dropped/died and the herd ran out to +/- 800 yards. I got on the gun, @PNWGATOR moved to the spotter, and I shot the first elk that separated enough from the herd to get a clear shot. It was a total none event.

Yes, 803 yards is very far, no I would not suggest people shoot elk or any game animal at 800 yards. Regardless of caliber/bullet.

Good shooting by all, but wouldn’t misjudging wind by 2 mph put you close to a foot off at that range?

Tikka T3X compact 20”, MV 2904fps. Close side lung was smashed, far side had fragments all in it.

I have to admit, it was nice watching impact in the scope and having a second round ready to go in ~2 seconds while never losing sight picture.

No. That kind of damage could only be done with a 30-06 and a Proper Hunting Bullet with maximum knockdown power.

For me it’s been same/same.

From 17-135 yards it’s been in hole/mess/out hole in whitetail.

Total of 5 using 223/22ARC 73 ELDM/75 ELDM/77 TMK.

I guessed range and was a .1 mil low. Didnt matter because it punched through the front shoulder and ended up on the offside hide. She only made it about 20 yds and piled up.

I have a box of the CMP stuff. Haven't had a chance to chronograph it yet but it seems like good quality. Starline brass, 77tmk, and shoots pretty good. Probably a fair bit slower than the black hills stuff but much much cheaper.

Just give it a light crimp maybe? I picked up 50 fps by crimping rounds that only had about 1-1.5 thou in neck tension by accident (wrong bushing after processing like 200 cases )...
