.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

The 75gr ELD-Ms fueled by LVR just keep stacking things up. I got a rare pass through on a smaller pig yesterday (this was the second porker of the day.) Most of the time, the ELD-Ms enter and grenade.

This isnt a javelina?

Negative. No javelina in this county. I shot his 175lb mom just before I shot him… he happened to stop for a “what was that?” moment to his demise.

It really is impressive how much that looks like some middle ground between a feral pig, collared peccary, and white-lipped peccary. It could pass for some freak of nature (but impossible from my understanding) hybrid.

Right lol. It looks alot like our javelina just with a lighter coat. The snout looks like every one I've ever seen. The coat is different for sure

It’s been a great December for the ugly gun (BCA bolt 223 w/ phantom 77tmk 2630fps). Shot this sow in Florida at roughly 120 yds DRT and this coues in Arizona at 220 yards. He gave a follow up shot after walking a few steps and facing the opposite direction so he got two 77 tmk. Made it 10 yards from sliding down the steep grassy face. I’m sold on this setup. I carry this gun everywhere and even as a backup while guiding. With the primary arms 3x optic I have shot rocks out to 900 yards for fun with relative ease. It’s also been a great conversation piece with both new and old shooters.

Finally another data point. 140 yards 77TMK BH. RSS (Rokstock and Maven). Didn't appear to have been hit. Ran maybe 30 yards, then slowed and flopped. Kicked a bit but down in sight and just before getting to the tree line. No blood, at least around where she landed. The entry wound is first (exterior) then a minor exit wound. Interior shots - entry on left, exit on right. Looked to have missed the heart.

Knife made by @Slalomnorth. Yes, I forgot to take off my watch.

Elk #4 harvested today with the 77tmk 223rem combo (see my previous post #12672 for details about the rifle setup and the other 3 elk.)

This cow elk was taken by my daughter. 1 shot at 300 yards. It was standing more or less broadside.

Bullet hit the rib behind the front shoulder on entry. It went through one lung lobe and exited the off side.

The herd spooked at the shot and sound of the impact, and this cow followed. It appeared unsteady as it crested the rise out of sight, so I was reasonably sure it was a good hit. Once we got up to the site, we found a good blood trail and followed it over the ridge and quickly found the cow already expired. My onx track showed 320-ish yards walked following the blood trail.

I tried to get the pics in sequential order starting with the onside impact point and peeling the layers down to show the path of the bullet, ending with the offside exit.... so if they show up out of order, I apologize.

I've got videos of each shot (for each of the 4 elk) showing the reactions of the elk at impact that I can try and post on YouTube if anyone is interested.

I would like to see the footage of you savages killing the elk!

I would like to see the footage as well. Much appreciated. Well done on the elk.

I’d be interested in the videos too.

Ok, here are some short clips of each shot (per my post#12708 in this thread). Prepare to be underwhelmed... some of the footage is better than others lol. As a disclaimer... the camera angle does not show the exact same thing shot window as is seen through the rifle scope.

110 yard 223rem (16yr old shooter)

320 yard 223rem (me... this is the bad wind call one...)

300 yard 223rem (14yr old shooter)
(The last cow at the very end of the clip is the cow that was shot I believe. She was found dead about 100 yards beyond where she crested that rise).

100 yard 223rem (10yr old shooter)

You could change the video title to “elk killed with suppressed (insert caliber) magnum” and nobody would know the difference. Especially the second video.

How do you like the BCA bolt action upper? I have wanted a bolt action upper, but the ones I knew about were $1K plus.

I have to grow a manbun now I guess. I joined the 77TMK club this morning. Saw three antlerless deer. Believed the first and third to be mature does. The middle one was definitely a fawn. The first surprised me by quickly walking past but the second two stopped. Turns out the third was just a larger fawn. She stopped broadsided at 25-26 yards and in the moment I forgot to account for the high scope mount of an AR15 so I hit her perhaps an inch below where I intended. Entry low and immediately behind the right shoulder crease, bottom of both lungs, hit the heart low but centered, exited juuuuuust in front of left shoulder crease. Barely touched that shoulder. Caliber entrance, 1” exit through hide, 1.25” entrance into ribs, 1.25” exit from ribs. She did a 55 yards death lunge with a small amount of blood coming from the exit, typical of a shoulder exit. Sufficient for tracking but that wasn’t needed - I watched her enter the woods and thought I saw/heard her fall a few yards in. I gave her a few minutes to be sure then found her piled up where I’d last seen movement. Damage to both lungs but the heart was absolutely destroyed. No drama. I would have expected the exact same from any other caliber.

23.0gr. Hodgdon Benchmark, 1x AAC brass, Tula SRM primer, 77TMK seated to 2.255” and 2575’mv from a 16” 1-7 Ballistic Advantage barrel w/YHM R9 can.

When I found and saw how small she was (meaning thin chest) my mind went to the question of whether the bullet opened fast enough to do the sort of damage the TMK is known for. I shouldn’t have worried. lol.

Action shot of my girls’ bARbie-15: IMG_9436.jpeg

ETA:

The fascia between shoulder and ribs was a mess, as you’d expect from a bullet moving perhaps 2520’ on impact, but there was no significant bloodshot meat on the shoulders except maybe an inch around the exit.

I know I'm not the original poster, but I have 2, both work flawlessly after I removed the insert inside of the extractor spring, oring, and cycled them lots, CLP etc. To be fair this is not a BCA thing, it's pretty common in the Grendel case world to remove them. Both rifles shoot exceptionally better than me, mine are 6arc and 6.5grendel, I plan to order one in 22arc and 5.56 as well.
