.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

What is minimum impact velocity for the hornady 75gr bthp ?
I been hunting with factory 73eldm an my tikka 223. Assuming 1800+ for it.
I got a a lot of the 5.56 FR320. But not sure which be better.

I have shot smaller game, pdogs, rock chucks, coyotes, and turkeys with a 75gr HPBT with minimal issues from 25-400yds. I only shoot factory ammo, no reloads. With that being said, i have had erratic groups with it so I only use it when I am taking my rifle for a walk. Once I am out of 75s, I will use only 77s.

Probably the 75 Gold Dot, which is the same as the 75 used in Federal Fusion
I have read this a lot BUT….why do the heavy solids get so much hate in comparison? Seems to me they would be of similar performance needed speed for best results.

For context I have successfully used 73eld, 77tmk, 62 fusions, 55 soft points on whitetail.

Heavy is going to penetrate farther. And in the case of fragmentation, a heavier has more mass to fragment, so more penetration

Bonded and solids don’t typically fragment correct?

What makes a bonded lead core better than a solid copper of the same weight?

Practice.

The trajectory and wind hold may be different but everything else involved is the same
Just seems unnecessary to shoot a 69gr SMK at $0.75/ea that may zero differently when 77gr SMK's are also $0.75/ea. Especially when I'm shooting the 77gr TMK during the same range session.

If the Remington ammo is pure garbage that would be one thing.

Sure. But more than likely the zero between your 77gr TMK ammo and the 77gr SMK ammo will be just as different as the 69gr.

The bonded bullet, while it may not fragment as much, will still open up at slower speeds and pretty reliably. Mono's have a history of not expanding much at all once you drop below about 2200 fps. So, if you are talking about the .223 specifically that is the difference in having a 400 yard gun and having a 200 yard gun (75 grain Gold Dot vs 70 grain CX)

Stabbing spears, not throwing spears… Although a stabbing spear can be thrown accurately enough out to 9 yards.

Before it became illegal in BC I spear hunted bears (successfully) some when I would find one in a good spot for the stalk.
done spears with wild boars wounded in europe to avoid dogs to be well wounded and it is a sport not made for everyone as the boars are aiming your legs and what you have between (needless to say that part shrinks way more than going in freezing water lol) but it is one of the best way to learn if you can or cannot do it ...

Maybe not the best way to learn you can’t do it.

You can kill alot of things with a .223 but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. I'd keep the .44 rifle, it would work a whole lot better.
I don't see facts, pictures, or any scientific evidence to support your claim. I do, however, see that you're post #10,882 in a thread that exemplifies the opposite, and is full of evidence to substantiate it.

Maybe try reading it instead of jumping to the end to give your unbacked opinion.
