I can’t wait till my daughters are old enough to shoot. But get that girl a shooting mat! She’s almost laying in mud.Daughter out shooting tonight with the tikka 223. “Wow dad this thing is so fun to shoot”. No doubt next year she will be shooting her first deer with a 77tmk as she’s so confident with this rifle. Coyotes are in trouble this winter

Why is there no talk of the 22 hornet? Its velocity is only 200 yards behind the 223.
I killed a wolf at ~100 yards with 45gr soft points from a 22 hornet. 2 shots to the lungs, didn't perform an autopsy, but both bullets exited and he died within 100 yards.

0.6” of rain that morning. I’m not going to pamper her for shooting when I will watch her and her sister have mud fightsI can’t wait till my daughters are old enough to shoot. But get that girl a shooting mat! She’s almost laying in mud.
You’re quite consistent with the recommendation of the 77 TKM out to 450 at 223 velocities, so that‘s the same as 22 hornet to 250 yards with the same bullet. Right?Have you read the thread in its entirety?
I have a couple of Hornets. How are you stuffing a 77g TMK in Hornet case and still fitting it in the chamber with any room left for powder if you could even spin it with the standard 12 or 14 twist barrels they have? Even with a Hornet K chamber in a custom barrel I doubt the TMK or 73 ELDM would have enough velocity to expand at 100 yards. A 45 grain Hornet round is only 2645 at the muzzle. You’re quite consistent with the recommendation of the 77 TKM out to 450 at 223 velocities, so that‘s the same as 22 hornet to 250 yards with the same bullet. Right?
edit: Others are killing elk to the equivalent of 600 to 800 yards out of the hornet.

There are very few custom 22 hornets with fast enough twist - but they are out there.?
Show me a 22 Hornet that can shoot a 77gr TMK.
Did you read the thread? Is this a joke or no? Lol I’m new here
Putting a 77gr TMK in a 22 Hornet is a joke.Is this a joke or no? Lol I’m new here
The 22 hornet in a modern action is only 200 yards behind the 223 - maybe 250. I only bring it up to help out the guys that don’t shoot far and want to maybe have a more appropriate rifle built.Beware the troll
In order to be only 250 yards behind the performance of black hills 77 tmk load, you're gonna have to push that bullet at around 2450 fps out of your hornet. Got some secret load data to share? Maybe an Ackley improved, +p hornet with a 36 inch barrel? The 22 hornet in a modern action is only 200 yards behind the 223 - maybe 250.
