223 barrel length & speed

Got another data point. 25 grains of N540 in my 16” 223 tikka is getting 2795 FPS shooting 77 TMKs with an ES of 19
Thanks!! I have a few lbs of that, and was wondering how it would work!! What brass are you using?

Factory tikka barrel cut to 18 inches shoots black hills 77TMK ammo at average 2738 fps for me at around 1000 feet of altitude.

I apologize for reviving this older comment, but I am assuming you are talking about the 5.56 TMK loading? No issues with the 5.56 pressure loads?
I've been doing some reading about guys here shooting 5.56 loads out of their factory Tikkas with zero issues. I guess I just need to suck it up and try.

Are the handloads all seated to book COAL?

Not questioning your results just my recent purchase. I just spent $400 hoping 8208 would be as fast or faster than N540
My 8208 xbr should be delivered today. I’m hoping for at least 2830fps from a 22” barrel. 🤞

I’m getting that from my TAC load.

23.5gr will get exactly that.
I’m looking forward to it. I shot my current load to 660 yards yesterday. Furtherest I’ve shot my rifles. Lol. Took me 2 shots to dope the wind and hit my last 2 shots. 50% hit rate on an 18” steel circle is terrible for most folks, but I felt good about it.
