With all the rage in cutting down 223's on this forum... figured a thread dedicated to length and speed would be beneficial. Not sure if one has already been started yet or if this should go in the monster 223 for moose thread!

Out of my 18" suppressed tikka, using H4895, I settled on 2805 FPS with 77 TMK and 2840 FPS w/ 73 gr eldm. Brass is only 1X fired, but not showing any signs of pressure. I am sure it is on the warm side.

Tikka superlite 18" with JK solvent trap 2752fps. 23.7gr 8208/77tmk

20”, 23g of xbr in lapua brass made 2775 with 77tmk.

My next barrel is going to be an 18”. Honestly for me the limiting factor on my 223 is not velocity at target but the range where my wind call can’t keep up with a 4mph bullet.

16” barrel on my AR. Drives a 63gr absolute hammer at 3030fps. I’d have to look at my notes but I’m using Benchmark powder in lake city brass. It’s pretty devastating on critters.

How you liking the trap? Is it on the heavy side?
I really liked the month-ish tax stamp approval. It works just fine. I'm not a suppressor connoisseur, but I don't think it's overly heavy. Future purchases will probably be lighter and titanium, but no regrets.

16” tikka t3x pushing 77TMKs at 2725 with 24.5 grains of TAC. I’ll have some data for an 18” 223AI +P pushing 77s or 88s fairly soon.

Brand new 20” PVA barrel with Nomad ti.
Churned out some 69TMK / LC brass /
CCI 400 / 24.5 gr TAC @ AR mag length on my Dillon RL1100 and they shot OK @ 2950fps. Got 100 rounds down range and now I’m going to start load dev with Lapua brass and some 77s.
