So by your conclusion the only way a bullet can fail is by not having a dead animal? If that is the case it would be pretty hard to ever prove a bullet failure. I dont necessarily disagree with that, but if the animal was not found dead it could be said that it was just a bad shot.
More and more people are recording their hunts, either with cameras, or in many cases, guys just pulling out a phone when their partner is shooting at an animal. So it’s not unreasonable to think, if these bullet failures are common, someone has caught a well placed shot on film, and then been able to show the animal did not die nearby.

Many videos exist showing small caliber successes; but I don’t think anyone has shown a video of good bullet placement, followed by “bullet failure” resulting in a live animal running off.

Oof. That’s crazy.
Idk ive killed a lot of elk. Seen even more kiled. All various guns bullets ect. Ill say this 30 cal bigger has done better job consistently. Animals act different when hit ect. Obviously not every animal. You cant fix bad shot placement.
That being said ill be testing some mono 70gr out of same gun hopefully on some caribou if i see any on my moose hunt. Maybe audad and mule deer in Mexico.

I’m a pretty newby hunter, but recently jumped on the 22cm train. Plan on using it for mule deer in idaho 25’, getting a feel for the limits. I do appreciate the feedback and will be following along for sure.

22cm doesnt 1-shot an elk with bad shot placement, never use it again...But 4x 250g bullets "perfectly placed" to the chest from the .30 magnum to put down an elk is totally acceptable...

Bigger bullets create bigger wound channels that are more forgiving.

I’m so afraid of a 7 mag I have to wait until two bulls stand next to each other so when a gigantic flinch causes a mis on one bull it will hit the other.

Even though playing Slug Bug with a grade school girl puts more pressure on a shoulder than a belted mag, shooting it makes my tummy hurt and I throw up so there’s no chance for a second shot.

You can always tell which 270 shooter spars at a MMA gym - that tiny pop to the shoulder makes them try to tap out every time.

What about the angles? You missed your mark. Must be dark under the bridge this morning.

If I hand you a 9mm & 10mm Glock, which do you think will yield faster, more accurate, & more repeatable hits on target for the overwhelming majority of shooters?

If we go shoot sporting clays, will you have a higher hit rate with a 12 ga shooting 3 1/2" #6s or 2 3/4" #6s?

What makes rifles different? Shooting something better does not mean you shoot the other thing poorly by default.

22cm wasnt a bad shot placement. Any 30 cal would of anchored that animal. 4 shots but first shot he was a dead bull, his reaction showed it. I dont stop shooting until they stop moving. Let me ask you. What would a 22 creedmoor or 6.5 creedmoor done any better for me in that position? 700 yards cross wind few minutes to dark. Anyway i was asked a question on what happened. I answered sorry it doesn’t fit your agenda.

Ive killed elk with 25/06, 270, 270wsm many others. None kill like 30 cal.

You mean you haven’t had to put “four perfectly placed shots” from 25/06, 270, 270wsm’s in elk to kill them like with the 30 cal?

Do you not understand how illogical this statement above is?

You are literally saying- “it’s ok that I put four perfectly placed rounds from this big 30cal magnum- but it’s not ok that one shot from ‘x’ caliber didn’t drop an elk immediately”.

No one has an agenda here, they are just looking for logical thought processes and honesty. Your position is illogical and intellectually dishonest.
On top of that, you have functionally 0 experience with a topic, but then are giving advice about how to do it to others- advice that is absolutely wrong (400 yard max and mono’s)- and you are arguing with multiple people that have from a dozen (in one year) to hundreds of big game animals killed with 22cals- including 50+ elk.
I, and others are trying to make sense of that.

I personally have killed many elk and seen even more killed. Ive shot them with smaller guns and what i noticed is 30 calibers do better. Now of a 30 caliber does better then a 25/06 with the same bullet what makes me believe a 22 creed-moor would do better? None the less i still tried it. It did not perform to what i want to see. You guys keep bringing up this 4 shot thing but still have not answered would a 22 creedmoor made that situation any better at all? No it wouldn’t have
