22 suppressors

Did you think the otter creek was bad? Or did you just like the other a bit more? Between me and my friends I’ve been able to shoot around 20 different rimfire cans and I actually shout the otter creek was pretty nice.
We liked it, still do, might get one. I brought ght some 700fps, some 1000fps and some 1200fps ammo. The 1200fps in the pistol sounded similar between the Huxwrx and OCL when shot as being the only ammo loaded in the mag. @huntsman22 had the idea to load the mags with a few of the 1000fps then a few of the 1200fps. Only in hearing the 1k shots immediately followed by the 1200 could we notice that the Hux did a little better. We could distinguish the 1200 shots from the 1k with the OCL, but still very very quiet.

I also think that we were picking out porch/tone rather than volume. The Dead Air was quiet but seemed more snappy and the sound drawn out. The TBAC was quiet but twangy. The sparrow had FRP which while not scary or anything, was distinct and noticeable. All started on the pistol, then we whittled down to the Hux and OCL.

On the rifle we all picked out the Huxwrx, again probably tone and not volume. The kid picked the Hux definitely, even though he said on the way home the fde color was "lame".

I'd be happy with an OCL; I need to think through if there's any durability/maintenance/wild card concerns with the sealed design of the Hux.

Tons of great 22 suppressors out there right now along with great data sets from Pew Science and the Silencer Summit. Love seeing the data posted!

Our current favorite and biggest seller is the FOR Pluto. Sounds great, does very well on Pew Science, priced right, and at 2oz is awesome on pistols. Every now and then I’ll get a barely perceptible first round pop and it can’t be taken apart to be cleaned. Personally, that’s not an issue for me with the cleaning solutions on the market now.

Mask is still a top performer but is heavier than I prefer on pistols so it lives on my Ruger American Rimfire.

If I was going to buy a new 22 can for a rifle today it would be the Hux, another pistol can would be another Pluto.

I have the following:

Sparrow
OCL Ti
Rugged Oculus
DA Mask

All are great but the OCL is my favorite. It suppresses as well as any of them but the lightweight Ti makes it the GameChanger.

I’m curious about that huxwrx silencer and how it’s going so far from guys who got them and now might have some rounds through them. Have you cleaned it yet?

I just ordered a road hunter and an otter creek, curiosity got the best of me but I was listening to a podcast and the guys from diligent defense were sort of saying that they based the road hunter off the mask 22, just made it better (lighter, quieter, easier to clean, more intuitive to put back together). I was looking for a lighter silencer anyways (mask is heavy for a rimfire can, nice but heavy ish) then last minute I figured I’d grab an otter creek.

I lost interest in the TBAC when I saw the baffles aren’t titanium, that’s sort of one hangup I have with my mask.

Anyways, looking at checking out the top tier of what’s available right now, the hux pops up here and there but I’ve never given that company a second thought, not for any real reason.

I've only cleaned my Hux twice. Never bothered to get the 'sauce' from Hux, just used 1/3rdCLR, 1/3rdSimple Green and 1/3rd water with a couple drps of Dawn in a tall, skinny jelly jar. Tossed it in the ultrasonic full of water. The jar takes little solution and the ultrasonic vibes seem to go right thru the glass just fine. The solution comes outta the jar pretty dirty, so I think it's working just fine....

Sealed cans kinda aspooked me at first, but so far, it don't seem to be a problem.

Ours came home last Thursday or Friday, and all I know is the sticker is cool. We should be able to play with it this weekend.
