Thinking it's time for my first 22 can. Especially with my kids getting to shooting age and rabbits in the alley behind the house.

I've got a Huxwrks Flow in the cart. Liking the weight of it as I could see carrying it on a pistol for snakes while scouting the prairie.

Done a little research and see the Dead Air Mask seems to be the king for 22's. Not sure the 2oz of difference is a huge deal or not. Or if the Hux being a flow through will keep the gun cleaner.

Only issue I see is having to use a special cleaning method for the Hux.

Any suggestions? Would like it to handle up to 5.7 so I have an excuse to buy one.

Guess I'm also looking at a host for it as my 22's aren't threaded. Planning on getting a Ruger Precision 22 this weekend.

My kid is complaining I don't take him when I go do load testing. Their little cricket 22 is loud AF without a can. And it worries me that he's walking around with a rifle. I can't lay down and test loads and watch them. Figure I can lock that Ruger into a tripod next to me prone and he and shoot as much as he wants without any muzzle control issues. Any review on these? Liking the looks of the adjustable stock. Basically the only reason I'd get this over a CZ.

Then Thinking about the FN502 for a pistol.

Thanks

I have the mask HD, it’s great. I also have a banish 22 which is lighter and the baffles are titanium so it’s easier to clean. Downside….you have to deal with SC to get one, but it is a good silencer.

Thunderbeast now has a gen 2 of their 22 silencer which should be awesome since the 1st generation is/was one of the best rimfire silencers out there.

With all of that said, it dosent seem like any rimfire silencer really outperforms any other to an extent that it matters. People talk about silencers that eliminate the “first round pop”. I’ve not experienced the “pop” with either of my silencers being used on my tacsol 22.

I bet the hux performs well but I've never even put hands on one. As stated above im sure most 22 cans serve their purpose well enough, but something like the hux flow one should be really nice for its intended purpose.

I have way more centerfire cans but i do have a handful of rimfire ones. I'm super impressed with the mercy firearms printed ones for pistols where the weight is noticeable. Their pluto and pluto micro sound as quiet as my rugged oculus at a fraction of the weight. I like the griffin armament resistance for rifles, should do well with larger rimfire cartridges than 22lr too since its rated for up to 223. I think it was the largest diameter rimfire can available when I decided to get it

I have a nyx and a nyx mod 2. The mod 2 has 8 baffles and the nyx is only 7. I run the mod 2 on a 17 hmr. It’s pretty quiet, but not quite movie quiet. Small, light, relatively cheap, user serviceable, and Ti. Compared favorably to a da mask for sound which seems to be one of the best. The mod 2 can also be shortened to a 4 baffle version if you want smaller.

I have a Dead Air Mask, TBAC 22 Takedown, and Surefire Ryder 22A. I think the TBAC is a little quieter on, on a pistol, but otherwise I like it equally as much as the Mask.

The Ryder 22A is an older model, with the aluminum baffles. It's lighter than all get out, but the aluminum baffles are a pain to clean by hand! It's noticeably louder on a pistol than the other two, so I really only use it sparingly (to cut down on cleanings), and typically only on a rifle. I really like the design of the Ryder, though. The threaded end doesn't try and unscrew itself from the rest of the can, when taking it off.

Whichever on you decide Roget, be sure to get one with stainless or titanium baffles! They are much easier to clean.

OCL Ti22......
The Otter Creek will probably be my next rimfire can.

I've been really happy with this guy. Insanely light and is quieter than my Mac bros. vapor

I really dig the mask... it's been super awesome both on rifles and pistols. A good ultra sonic clearer has made baffle cleaning a breeze.

Love my mask. It’s been awesome and there’s nothing about it that makes me wish for anything different. Usage has been bolt action 17hmr, 22 pistol, and 10/22.

22 is easy to suppress and I’m sure there are a lot of great options

I’d have a hard time not going with the otter creek can with what’s available.

I have a Tbac and a griffin. I don’t think there’s any magic to a rimfire suppressor. Really like them on 17hmr, kind of a novelty on a 22 imo.

That OCL 22 can looks perfect IMO.

I have a Rugged Occulus, which is fine. After using it a bunch over the last 5 years, I think a 4-5" Ti can that's lighter than mine would be ideal. But honestly I don't think there will be as much variation between rimfire cans as compared to centerfire cans. Way lower volume of gas, much slower projectiles.

Edit: The 22 cans just don't heat up that fast to make me think the high temp nickel alloys are necessary.

The Dead Air Mask HD is one of the quietest 22lr suppressor on the market and one of the best. It's also one of the most durable and toughest.
I've never had an issue with my Mask HD dropping crap back into the bore or into the action of my guns, but I also clean my suppressor every 250-500 rounds. Regular .22LR suppressor maintenance is paramount, as .22LR ammo is nasty to shoot.

Go for titanium for ease of cleaning+lightweight and the cans are all the same.
Shoot subs or it is kind of a waste imo

Look at Lane Silencers here in Rapid City. I have a couple of theirs. The 22LR specific in Titanium is quiet on a rifle. All I hear is the bolt cycling on my 10/22 and there is not much noise at all from my bolt gun. I also run it on my 22/45 that I had threaded. I am running Remington SubSonic out of those guns and that ammo is good for a 10 shot one hole group at 50yds.

Looks like it grew on here.

i have a rugged oculus. took a friend out today with my tikka T1x. so much fun.

as noted above by @waspocrew and @NDGuy, hard to go wrong with any decent rimfire suppressor. $300 plus another $200, 36-48 hours of wait (unless you're doing a trust) and then screw it on the end of your gun and have fun plinking.

i bought an ultrasonic cleaner off amazon for another $100+ which makes cleaning way easier. but breakthrough and ballistol have suppressor cleaner that does pretty decent jobs too.
