Thinking it's time for my first 22 can. Especially with my kids getting to shooting age and rabbits in the alley behind the house.

I've got a Huxwrks Flow in the cart. Liking the weight of it as I could see carrying it on a pistol for snakes while scouting the prairie.

Done a little research and see the Dead Air Mask seems to be the king for 22's. Not sure the 2oz of difference is a huge deal or not. Or if the Hux being a flow through will keep the gun cleaner.

Only issue I see is having to use a special cleaning method for the Hux.

Any suggestions? Would like it to handle up to 5.7 so I have an excuse to buy one.

Guess I'm also looking at a host for it as my 22's aren't threaded. Planning on getting a Ruger Precision 22 this weekend.

My kid is complaining I don't take him when I go do load testing. Their little cricket 22 is loud AF without a can. And it worries me that he's walking around with a rifle. I can't lay down and test loads and watch them. Figure I can lock that Ruger into a tripod next to me prone and he and shoot as much as he wants without any muzzle control issues. Any review on these? Liking the looks of the adjustable stock. Basically the only reason I'd get this over a CZ.

Then Thinking about the FN502 for a pistol.

Thanks

I have the mask HD, it’s great. I also have a banish 22 which is lighter and the baffles are titanium so it’s easier to clean. Downside….you have to deal with SC to get one, but it is a good silencer.

Thunderbeast now has a gen 2 of their 22 silencer which should be awesome since the 1st generation is/was one of the best rimfire silencers out there.

With all of that said, it dosent seem like any rimfire silencer really outperforms any other to an extent that it matters. People talk about silencers that eliminate the “first round pop”. I’ve not experienced the “pop” with either of my silencers being used on my tacsol 22.

I bet the hux performs well but I've never even put hands on one. As stated above im sure most 22 cans serve their purpose well enough, but something like the hux flow one should be really nice for its intended purpose.

I have way more centerfire cans but i do have a handful of rimfire ones. I'm super impressed with the mercy firearms printed ones for pistols where the weight is noticeable. Their pluto and pluto micro sound as quiet as my rugged oculus at a fraction of the weight. I like the griffin armament resistance for rifles, should do well with larger rimfire cartridges than 22lr too since its rated for up to 223. I think it was the largest diameter rimfire can available when I decided to get it

I have a nyx and a nyx mod 2. The mod 2 has 8 baffles and the nyx is only 7. I run the mod 2 on a 17 hmr. It’s pretty quiet, but not quite movie quiet. Small, light, relatively cheap, user serviceable, and Ti. Compared favorably to a da mask for sound which seems to be one of the best. The mod 2 can also be shortened to a 4 baffle version if you want smaller.
