I’m in the market for a suppressor-ready 22 LR semi auto pistol. Primary use will be to carry around the farm and quietly dispatch varmints. I would also consider carrying it while elk hunting to shoot grouse. Ruger SR22, Sig P322, Taurus TX22 look like they would fit the bill…any comments on those and/or suggestions for other models I should consider?

MKIV. If you really wanna have fun get the VQ trigger kit. Just wish they had larger mags.

Sr22 is OK but it’s nothing special. Plus is they’re cheap or were cheap when we got it.

Biggest pro to the TX22 is mag size. I haven’t snagged one yet but plan on it soon.

MKIV lite is your go to. Get a low profile red-dot mount like the lobos mount. VQ trigger kit if you want to make sure the gun is far better than you. There are certain models (e.g via silencershop) that are cut with a short barrel seemingly designed to do exactly what we’re talking about… Grouse/rabbit is my favorite animal to hunt while hunting other animals :)

I was looking for a 22 pistol for the same reasons. I have an older MK 2 gov target (non-threaded bull barrel) and I went with the kel tec p17. In fact, I bought a pair of them for $400 (total) so the wife can carry a lightweight “deterrent” around the farm. I haven’t brought them home yet, but I’m looking forward to some plinking this weekend. From what I have seen/read, they should fit our needs just fine for the price.

The cool thing about SilencerShop edition of the Ruger MK IV is that with the reduced barrel length it shoots just about all 22lr ammo at subsonic speeds. This makes it very quiet with a suppressor. No need to buy subsonic 22 ammo.

Alternatively, you can get any MK IV and buy an aftermarket upper to reduce the barrel length. That’s the beauty of the Ruger’s, there is so much customization that can be done to them.

The Glock 44 is my favorite 22 ever. And I’ve owned a lot of them. The magazines are easy to load. It’s reasonably reliable with good ammo. There are no pinch points like there are on the Rugers. It’s also been really accurate for me. Owning other Glocks is a bonus because all of my support gear works with the 44.

I liked my m p 22. never jammed on me, shot everything I fed it. I wish I had it back

I have had a buckmark for the last 20ish years that has been awesome. It has dispatched many rabbits and trapped raccoons. This year I finally had to replace the extractor.

If I was doing it over again I would probably get the ruger for no reason other than them being the gold standard

The S&W Victory with the short TK Comet barrel is a handy suppressed pistol....
