I've heard guys running 8s, 7.5s and 7s. I've shot them from 7s and a 7.5 personally. My new barrel on order is a 7.5tw 219 bore 6gr light palma that'll likely be finished at 20" for a supressor. Your 7.7 should be fine, depending on DA. A slight loss of bc due to slightly low of optimal SG will likely not be that noticeable inside 500-600y, not until the velocity really starts falling off. The next option would be the 80gr eldm. The BC difference between that and the 88 isn't that much, and the 80 can be driven much faster due to the substantially shorter bearing surface.

Has anyone done much comparison on wound channels between the 80 gr and 88? I haven't run the numbers but is there a good case for running the 80 over the 88?

22 creed all day, can always find bullet, extremely easy to reload.
Will dump anything with the right placement, 80 ELDX or 77TMK. TMK for longer distances.
I run 18inch 1:8twist.

Thanks, been consuming all the information I could find and have decided on 22 CM. Can't wait to get it all together

Having sent at least 25 whitetails to the afterlife with a 243win, I would take that over the 22 creed. That being said the 22 creed is a 22-250 with a new sticker and should do well, just prefer the 6mm mainly cause great results with that and poor results with .223

You do know that we here are talking about very specific projectiles from each of these calibers. A poor choice in bullet is a poor choice no matter what the cartridge. If you share bullets used in each that you mentioned, then it becomes more relevant info.

243 win is 100gr rem corelok mostly, some win power point. Some hornady interlock.

223 was some 55gr soft point & 75 bthp.

243 is since retired, now a safe queen. 22-250 & 223 are my night guns for predators. Looking for either a 6.5 cm or prc currently for use on the occasional yote, deer, or steel plate.

I have both - can’t say I really prefer one over the other. They are both great rounds and see a lot of use. Gun to my head - I guess I’d say go with the 22 Creed.

This was an 88 ELDm in Fort St John last fall. 223AI though

The stuff we’ve tipped over with them, I’m pretty happy out to 450+ with that chambering. Out to 600, I’d go with a 22creed just to stretch the distance and stay over 1800fps impact velocity.

Headed to Haida Gwaii currently for a week of deer and fishing, and I have a 223AI in tow. In fact, this fall is going to be all 223AI, with 77 TMK and 88 ELD m’s.

Well I just told my smith, cut my 7.5tw light palma in 22cm with 180k freebore for 88s, 18" finished length. I also had a other 7.5tw 6mm light palma at his shop. That's getting cut in 6cm, same 18" finish length. So I'll have both options available for comparison at equal barrel lengths!

I've already had an 18in 22cm so I know what it'll do, but I haven't had a 6cm shorter than 22".
