Starting this thread as a place for people interested. Anyone?

Let’s keep it related to 22 Creedmoor + Peak Only !!!

I’ll start off …….. I’m interested in the possibility of
A + Peak version.
It’d be nice if & when Federal comes out with it.

C’mon Federal make the 22 Creedmoor +Peak the Fastest Commercial available 224 caliber factory loaded ammo available for standard short action standard bolt face centerfire rifles. Optimized for heavy for caliber high bc bullets. Great for predator hunting, medium big game, & Long range hunting & target.
A Laser beam with lighter varmint bullets.
Perfect for short barrel Suppressed applications
& Backcountry use. 😊.

For my clarification, is this thread for 22 CM, or pushing the 22CM to a higher level?

I broadly categorize the 6.5CM as “standard”, 6CM as “magnum”, and 22CM as “ultra mag”.

Not that my categorizations are authoritative or even reasonable, but I would think much more powder behind a 22 would not see much benefit other than replacing brass, barrels, and powder jug more frequently.

Perhaps I’m wrong though…

I'm curious what kind of speeds you could get out of an 88 at 80k psi.

I also think a 10 twist shooting varmint bullets would be rad.

According to GRT, using N550 as the powder, it is predicting 3380 for the 88-grain ELDM out of a 24" barrel. Based on my experience with GRT, it is a little slow on it's velocity prediction model, so I would guess that 3400 fps is possible.

I’m considering in the short term a couple possibilities for a 22 CM + Peak

1) neck down 6.5 CM + Peak

2) if 6 CM + Peak comes available next,
neck that down

3) wait for 22 CM + Peak

Right now I’m leaning option 1.

I found a source for dies & bushings, so I’ll start there.

I think that the problem that you are going to run into is at the shoulder/neck junction. When stepping down 6.5 Creed to 22 Creed in brass cases (when we still had to do that), it required neck turning, specifically to get rid of the bulge that is created at the junction. If you have a mini lathe type neck turner, you may be able to do it, but it will depend on the hardness of your cutter and with the knowledge that you will be removing the coating.

SAC is working on dies. But then comes the question of buying just cases.
$50+ a box per 20 rounds just for the brass seems wild. Maybe just buy a case or something if they load the 88 tmk for hunting. Still stupidly expensive.

SAC will have dies available soon. Also have mandrels available.
Federal is going to make just cases available after
They get loaded ammo out.

Per Website:

RELOADABLE: UNPRIMED CASES COMING SOON

Federal’s 6.5 Creedmoor +Peak is reloadable, and we’re offering unprimed cases for handloaders after launch.

That would make it a NO GO for me then if any compromising of the case was needed.

Ideally factory formed cases is Best.

C’mon Federal. 22 CM +Peak

This combo would be cool but you’d better be shooting monolithic bullets. Or maybe one of those new proof gain twist barrels. Bullets spin apart with a regular 22creed.
