I've been using a lineman's belt since before they were popular but never a need or want for a lineman's belt till now. Has anyone successfully added one to a harness? Currently have two Petzel Gym Harnesses and thinking it may just be easiest to buy an XOP " The Holiday " harness to use for the times I'd want a lineman's belt. I prefer the idea of using one of the Petzl's I already own because I'm already comfortable with those.

Thanks in advance!

I've seen guys girth hitch a nylon continuous loop to the belt of their harness on either side to create linemans loops. Never tried it, so that isn't an endorsement of it though.

If you decide to buy one, I would recommend the dryad killdeer over anything XOP offers. Its just a RCH with linesmans loops build in essentially.

Not saying it’s safe or that you should use it this way, but I just clip my lineman’s belt onto the waist belt of my rock climbing harness with 2 caribiners. I honestly don’t use a lineman’s all the time while climbing and setting up and this works for the times I need one. I setup my tree tether and clip in before I climb into my stand.

I’ve also slid my tree tether up or down with me a few times aswell.

Falls aren’t fun, sliding down onto climbing sticks with a lineman’s belt pulling you into them isn’t fun either.

I looked at the holiday and another company, but I prefer my minimalist black diamond more.

To be more specific it's the loops on the side that I need. Has anyone had them installed?

I’ve tried one of these stitched to my waist belt before, I fed it through a rated rear belay loop. I used a speedy stitcher and wasn’t really relying on the stitching to hold. The loop was the load point if I had fell. Though the speedy stitcher thread is pretty strong and honestly probably would have held. I’ve also used 8mm climbing rope with a loop on each end aswell it’s just not as compact.

The strap extension is probably the better option.

They worked ok. Just prefer clipping into my waist belt.

If you are not wanting to diy something similar. Getting something like the holiday is probably your only option.

I ordered a Holiday harness and decided to return it almost immediately upon unpacking it. To me, it felt like a massive step down in quality compared to known climbing brands.

Depending on which harness you already have I'd look into adding a runner/sling/rope.

Another option is to use whatever cheap piece of crap harness you can find with linesmans loops for the inital hang of your stand and lifeline. Then just use your RC harness after that.
