2026 Goat Draw Success

AK draw results came out and I somehow drew 1 of 4 tags for a goat in a unit close to home. I was set to fish a lot, but now I’m changing plans for a Sept/Oct goat hunt. Now I need to pick up a new rifle; but I can’t wait!

Anyone else have success in drawing a goat tag in AK?

There’s always a chance! It’s one I wasn’t expecting to draw, and now I need to get my act together asap.

The good thing about goats is that there are tons of opportunities even if you don’t draw a tag.

Split a beaver load with two buddies and go to Kodiak and shoot two goats each. The draw is not the end of the world if goats on the list!!

The only thing I “need” is a new pack and rifle. Other than that, I should be set.

Congrats to those that drew. I’m stuck with a brother with a sheep draw for this year, so goat hunting might have to take back seat until we can get a ram down.

Solid draw. It’s wild how long some of these tags it take us residents to draw.

I am actually a NR with 3 sisters and their families that are residents! I have been lucky and drew a few tags that my resident family members have never drawn. This tag was the only unguided NR tag that was available for the hunt. So, pretty darn lucky. I appreciate every chance I get to spend time exploring and hunting in AK
