2025 Whitetail Meatpole

Not my deer but my 7yo was bound and determined to shoot a deer this fall. We were out of town most of the weekend during our youth weekend. Snuck in a late hunt Sunday and im glad we did. His first ever hunt as the shooter and he takes a doe and then 30 minutes later this buck steps out. Two great shots and he has a first hunt of a lifetime. Proud Dad moment for sure.

Edit: 73 elds may be overkill for whitetails...

I don't have a moon guide to tell me when to hunt , but I did happen to shoot the first buck Dec 5th and the supermoon made for some cool photos! My guess is he was just hungry... much like the second buck I took on the 16th in the last few minutes of late bow/ muzz season, also on a feeding pattern. I'm tagged out here in NY with my top 2 bucks I had to hunt going into season. It's been 11 seasons since I filled both buck tags (mostly by choice, but also seldom get opportunities at the ones I really want to take). Someone pinch me!

Haven’t bow hunted in over a decade, tried a new spot on a old farm and stuck this mature buck at 12 yards the first evening after setting this stand “correctly “

Because the first way I set it was wrong and I had to fix that an hour before shooting this deer.
