Progress through December. I'll rest a couple weeks so numbers won't change much for the year. Completed the Hitchcock Experience this weekend. Course had received about 6" of snow the week prior, so shoe screws were the answer. Tough, relentless course. If you want 20k of vert in a midwest hundo, this is a great race. Very well done race. I DNF'd this race a couple years ago, so it felt good to get a little redemption.Progress through September (including a small projection). 2,142 miles with 204k of vert through 9 months. The last three-month training block featured a lot of heat and altitude work in preparation for the Mogollon Monster. I went into the race feeling very good. The race itself, eh not so much. I struggled from the start getting into any kind of rhythm. It ended up turning into a death march, but hey I finished. That course is amazing, but very technical and the rim climbs/descents are steep!
My focus for the next training block is adding in more ME and strength work. I'm planning to lift large muscle groups 2x per week and body weight strength 2x per week. Mileage should be consistent with the first 9 months as I prepare for the Hitchcock Experience in December.
