First post on Rokslide!

Ten years after my first blacktail hunt with a buddy in his home state of Alaska, we decided it was time I get back up there. I took a huge bodied blacktail and got the experience of dragging it out of a clear cut. The plan is to make it a yearly trip, and I can’t wait to go back!

My Oregon buck on the last day I could hunt in the ALW season. Was targeting the bigger buck I had cam but screwed up my one encounter with him. It was a definite learning year for me. The shot looks pretty high but was shooting from a slightly elevated position and took out lung. Didn’t make it 30 yards. Hopefully next year the bigger buck and me can have another encounter.
