By far my biggest buck to date! My dad and I measured him at 160 3/4” when I got home. I was out there by myself, so the photos were taken off of my glassing tripod with my phone leaning on my bino adapter… Harvested in Texas on 11/16/2024

I hadnt bow hunted since 2014, only rifle/ muzzleloader. Bought a new bow in August and put in the work. It paid off in a big way. Was up to 15-20 sits this year and things were starting to turn into a grind.

Woke up last Friday and decided to sit in the stand for a short time before work (boss was probably not pumped). Around 8:15 a.m. this guy appeared at a 100 yards. I pulled him closer with several grunts and snort-wheeze eventually coming to about 35 yards with a hard quartering-toward shot. I loosed an arrow as this was going to be my only opportunity.

I got down and checked my arrow, had a little bit of everything on it - meat, light blood, dark blood, hair, and a lot of tallow. I pulled out to go to work and gave him 6ish hours to succumb to what could have been a less than ideal shot. Went back out with a few buddies and trailed a scant blood trail for a few hundred yards before finding him piled up by a spring fed creek.

My biggest whitetail to date and to have done it with a bow on public land makes this one so much more special. I haven't scored him yet, give me your guesses!! Hes a 5 x 6 with a good sized additional point by his right brow tine (12 total points).

Damn, that's a great deer and a great hunt too. Leaving him out there on public while you worked had to make for some day-long anxiety. Congrats! 146"?

Great buck! I would say it’s pretty close to 160” - hope he beats it!

This is a great buck! Public land and archery? I'm not even going to give you an internet score, I've already done too many this year and it's a slammer anyway..

With the warm season we have had so far, it’s been slower than normal, but was able to get take this buck on a fun little morning hunt with my kids along.
