Deer opener turned into a wolf hunt within the first hour. After running out the pelt to get checked and into a freezer, I rode back in. Next morning, I went in after another wolf and found this guy. This buck had just shed velvet, and his white &red antlers immediately stuck out. I passed on him and just watched as his horns browned up as the blood dried. Being sick, I decided I didn't have much energy to change areas. After a few hours, I figured had misjudged him (turns out I didn't). Unfortunately, he bedded and I had to sit for 3½ hours as rain and snow moved in. Weak mains really hurt his score. 28"wide, 5"+bases, 173¾". He sure was purty from the front, though! Just sad deer season lasted two mornings...

It'll be alright Wapiti, I've still got WY Pronghorn, Bull Elk, Cow Elk, and MT Mule deer, plus my fiance needs to fill her WY Deer, Elk, and MT Deer tags. There will be plenty of season to come haha

It's been posted in the other thread as well, but I had a hard time picking which picture to share there.

Here it is, this year's Saskatchewan buck! In my books, he had it all, spot and stalk from a mile away, get held up by smaller buck, and some does 125 yards from him, belly crawling the last 60 yards and taking a shot that could not get any better! I got to watch him mule kick, run, and crash in less than 50 yards!

The only thing I wish was that my daughter was with me during it all. She opted to watch movies with mom this time. She's been a trooper since before opening day, and we had some chances on other deer, but they never gave panned out.

The setup
Prime Black 5 - 72lbs and 31"
Gold tip velocity 300's - q2i fusion xii 4 fletch
Grim reaper fatal steel mechanicals

“Guided” my buddy on to his first buck yesterday. We were after a bigger buck I spotted last night but after a long hike with light fading and this one in range he was beyond stoked since he wanted to get it done this weekend.

We were on our way around the top of a drainage to get a look back down in to the draw we saw the nice buck and this deer appeared on the hill just above us.

I want to add here that this was my 300WSM rifle shooting 215 Bergers at 2780. It was my first time hunting with Bergers and I am sold. For one these bullets shoot amazingly accurate in this rifle but second I am very happy with the terminal performance. The shot was a little back in the rear lung/liver absolutely rocked him and he went down immediately with a baseball sized exit hole. I am sold, the performance is exactly what I want to see. I have seen similar shots with accubonds and the animals will go a ways.
