I got back Saturday night. Saw a good one Sunday afternoon but didn't get a shot ( bow ). He came in to 40yds head on and stopped with brush in the way. Stared a long time then turned and walked away. Guide said he was 50" wide. We hunted him till Wed and never saw him again. Outfitter said it was too warm and rut hasn't really gotten going yet. Said if I want one, I better use a rifle. I finally gave in and grabbed a rifle and Thurs got within 61yds of a young 4pt. Guide recommended that I take him bit I held off. I could tell he was frustrated. They made it clear that was my chance and counts as my "opportunity". It finally cooled off some and started raining and came across a decent one Friday morning. Shot him off sticks at 243yds. Guide freaked out. Great trip for sure. I'm quite happy with how it went down. He is no monster by any means, but he is my first, so I will always love him haha
Congratulations. Who was your guide?

well that explains why I didn’t recognize you from camp. You were on the entire other side of the continent

oops, my bad. I posted on the wrong thread. I meant to post on the NL thread. Mine is tiny compared to the Alaska/Yukon moose, but average for NL

Apologies

What an awesome adventure!! Tough moose hunting, saw several bulls just couldn’t get on any or get them to come to our calling. Hunted at spike camp for 7 days then went back to the main camp to give caribou a try. After sitting in the rain and snow and wind for six hours the fog finally cleared, yet the big herd we saw the day before was gone. I spotted a lone bull about a mile away, we made the stalk and I killed him @ 4:30 on the last day. Whew…

Nice job! Tough hunt for sure. Did anybody else in your group have any luck?
The guy who really wanted a caribou connected the day before the last day on a nice caribou. One guy didn’t get a chance at nothing, stalked one caribou that was 1/2 short on one point of being legal. Nobody killed any moose while I was there. I had one big bull come cruising by @ 600 yards, just wouldn’t turn around and come our way and two others were impossible to get to.

We had a fantastic trip also. Tahltan Outfitters is top notch. Scott was my guide. Had a damn fine time with him (would have been much better if we would have had more Lucky Lagers). Weather was beyond great, never went hungry, and had some sort of action or adventure every day.

My buddy and I were on two separate lakes. We each saw multiple bulls. My buddy did not see one that he liked so he passed, but I came home with a nice bull. Super happy with the whole adventure. Highly recommend Tahltan Outfitters. moose.JPG
