Well it’s not a giant but low deer density national forest western North Carolina. .46 bucks per square mile.

Not a great buck but after the hunt I had that everything went wrong for 4 days when he stepped out at 300 yards I dropped him.

What a year, after archery wife and I got after her elk took a couple weeks, but found her a nice one. Hunted around the area and the state. Two weeks ago I located a nice one, hunted him before and after work for seven days. Saw him twice before we took off Wednesday night to see the in-laws for thanksgiving. Sunday driving home I told a friend we can go get him a doe last hour of the season. Well we put on some stalks and couldn’t seal the deal, found this guy on the cruise. He was flighty, but nose to the ground. Sure am glad I didn’t give up and not go the last hour of season.

Some does got behind me and screwed up a chance with this buck in late Oct. Pretty sure God was walking him to me on a lead rope last night.

I made a 4-day solo trip up North. There was very little rut activity. I hunted this buck for 3 days- glassing, spot & stalk. I was finally able to get him midday on my last day to hunt.

My buddy and I tagged out opening weekend of IN firearms season. I got mine the first morning and he got his the next morning. My biggest buck to date by a sizeable margin. My buddy's buck was really cool as it had a 3rd main beam. Mine had a bigger rack but his had a bigger body. Taken in north central IN. Mine was taken with a 308. My buddy's was with 6.5cm.

Not yet. Its in the walk in cooler. Tomorrow is our day to process deer so they may weigh it then.
We did weigh the guts just horsing around. Guts where 50 lbs.
