2023 AZ Elk Draw

My buddy drew a 22N late archery tag with 0 points. I’ve been invited to come along. He has a close friend who lives in the area and will offer local knowledge and has offered a free place to stay. Not sure I can turn it down, even if I am just a pack mule.

Logged into AZ to confirm, mine has been updated, unsuccessful as anticipated.

Oh well now waiting for NM.

NR with 13 points going into the draw. Got tag #7 for 6A archery. Didn't want to count my chickens before they hatched! Is it really 6 months of waiting???

Does anyone know when AZ updates the bonus points reflected in your account on their website? I didn't draw but I haven't been credited with a bonus point yet which doesn't surprise me other than the top of their web page indicates points are updated as of 3/15/23?

Only guarantee is that it will be updated before the next elk draw cycle. I think my deer points took 4 months to update last year

another year donating money to Arizona. Didnt draw again. All my eggs are now in the Wyoming Draw and NM Draw. We shall see....

No luck for my wife or I in AZ. $16,000 was tough to swallow for 2 applications in New Mexico….Hope they return the funds quick (save for a tag or two) so I can pay off the credit cards.

Just got a call from azgfd that there was a mess up for certain draws. I should have drawn a tag in main draw and am getting one issued to me now. I thought I might have gotten edged out by point creap. Woo-hoo going archery elk hunting in AZ.
Congrats dude, what an awesome surprise! I just about sprained my thumbs rushing over to the website to re-check my application.😂

Well how did the hunting go for you early archery hunters? I managed to get a small 6x6. I passed a smaller bull on day two. Day five without seeing any nice bulls I decided to take the one I got. It was fun! He came in screaming to my bugles. 6a was a little crowded for my liking though. Plenty of small bulls. I was up towards Mormon lake. Maybe the bigger bulls are down south in the PJ 's? All in all it was just a good time being in the Elk woods!

IMG_0381.jpegI ended up taking a 6x6 bull 3 days in. The rut was great for the first couple days of the hunt, I helped another friend who also has a tag and the dry conditions, the moon, the wind and the smoke made it difficult to get some fired up rutting action. Even with a spotty rut, there were plenty of times to fling arrows at 300-330” bulls. Gotta love Arizona.

What a beauty! Congratulations!
