Had to cancel my trip to SD a couple weeks ago. Had some surgery on what was supposed to be two small skin cancers. Turned out to be one bigger one and required a small skin graft. Going out in sub freezing temps isn't advisable so I am going to give it a couple more weeks to heal and if it warms up above freezing, I am going to make a couple trips to a preserve and get my GSP some more work before everything closes up. South Dakota is going to have to wait till the fall.

I pick up my new Vizsla pup the first week of February......few things are better than getting a new pup.

Good first season for Birch so far. We'll get several more duck hunts and at least one more KS quail / pheasant hunt in this season then work hard on training this spring / summer. Really pleased with how he's coming along so far.

Ducks have tough for me, I have found the mother load of Gambel's quail and have been flushing ton's! Getting a shot at them is another story, they have an uncanny ability to flush on the back side of a tall Mesquite and fly off unscathed!

Have taken maybe ten, but have flushed hundreds!

Went for dusky grouse two day, nothing, tried a new area as well with not luck.

Spotty right now in SD as expected this time of year. Limited easily on public Sat and Mon but four of us struggled to get four birds on a hard hunt Sunday. Weather has been great and seeing lots of hens so hoping on next year already.

I really dont do much bird hunting until big game is over, but we got into the birds the last couple weeks. Mostly ducks, some roosters, and got out of state over MLK to shoot some limits of chukar.

I have been getting pics from out there I am jealous. I need to get one more weekend in before it’s over. This subzero weather and missing training is making dog act crazy.

We went to Bridgeport NE and killed those. Just stupid numbers of geese down there.

Great pic! Love seeing the little ones out there. Getting tougher on the east side. I walked 13.2 miles yesterday for two shots (missed the easier one). I cant imagine how many miles the dogs put on.
